These Jars Are a Must-Have for a Sourdough Baker
The media could not be loaded. If you’re serious about sourdough, a good glass jar can make all the difference for your starter. These Weck glass jars deliver durability, functionality, and they look great on my counter. You can easily monitor your starter’s rise, bubbles, and overall health without needing to open the jar constantly. The wide mouth design makes feeding, stirring, and cleaning really easy. The lid seals well while still allowing fermentation gases to escape, preventing pressure buildup. The storage capacity easily allows a feeding of over 125g of flour before you worry about overflow. The glass is very thick and is dishwasher safe.

The defacto best sourdough jar.
Literally the best jar for sourdough. Perfect size for it. The lid clips are kinda annoying but for sourdough you don't really need them. The upside is they are spring enough if you do use them they will release the gasses before it becomes a grenade. Straight sides make it easy to clean and get out whatever you put inside. Also durable I accidentally dropped one from about 5 feet cleaning it and expected it to shatter. It survived without a scratch.

Beautiful, Functional, and Built to Last
These Weck jars are exactly what I was hoping for—sturdy, stylish, and super practical. I’ve been using them to store overnight oats and homemade yogurt, and the airtight seal really keeps everything fresh. Plus, they just look great in the fridge or on the counter. The glass is thick and high quality, and I love that the lids are reusable with the metal clips and rubber seals—no plastic waste. They’re also easy to clean and dishwasher safe, which is a huge plus for me.Definitely a step up from your average jar. If you’re into food storage that’s eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing, this set is a win.

Use these for your sourdough starter and discard!
Love using these for my sourdough starter. Durable, easy to clean, and big enough for my starter to rise!

Very nice jars
Nice jars! I purchased them to start making sourdough bread starters. It was suggested by someone in a YouTube video as their preferred jar. Currently using them to make kefir out of kefir grains, which we purchased on Amazon. They are a nice size jar for both purposes. They're very functional purchase. The thickness of the glass is nice. And they seem to be a good enough value for the price. The shape of them makes them more stackable, then a regular jar If that's important to you. Definitely maybe buying more in the future. I need to check to see if they make larger jars.

Great addition to upping your sourdough starter game.
I heard about these jars back when I first started trying sourdough. I thought that I would wait until I would see if I would even need them. I've always tried to make do with a repurposed jar - after all "just how different could it be" "A jar is a jar, right?" I finally broke down and got a pair of these jars....If you are actively making sourdough on a regular basis - and especially if you are doing multiple loaves at one time, these actually are MUCH nicer to use than a re-purposed jar, or even another brand designed with sourdough newbies in mind. (this is easier to get your hand in)I like the fact the this jar has straight sides - I can easily get all the "goo" out with a straight silicone spatula. If you have ever tried to scrape dried sourdough starter schmutz left after your rise is over out from under a curved rim of a jar, you'll understand. AND.. the mouth is big... bigger than my last jar. you can actually fit your hand in to wash the jar out. I always wash jars after every feed - this is nice to have two and I can just swap out.It might look like it is super big, but that means there is plenty of room for a nice active "starter party" to happen in your jar. I like that the lid has options.... i can just set the glass lid on for on the counter, or add the seal if it's going to go in the fridge for any amount of "down-time."If you are new to doing sourdough, and find that you are enjoying it - take the plunge and get a pair of theses jars. Treat them with respect and they will last you a lifetime.
