Before buying this decanter, I did some research. There seem to be issues with some decanters of this shape, such as washing, drying, pouring, however, the Chateau Wine Decanter does not share any of those issues.What I liked about the decanter- it ls large, solid, lovely - does not need to be babied- it washed easily, just with soap and water- it dried beautifully within minutes (other decanters experience difficulty)- the mouth, although slanted, holds the wine funnel at a correct angle (I had wondered about that)- the size of the mouth is a perfect fit for the the size of the wine funnel - one does not need to hold the funnel while pouring- when serving, it poured out every last bit of liquid (other decanters experience difficulty)- it has a round hollow foot at the bottom (visible in picture), which will hold sediments beautifully- the width of the neck just above the bowl, is a bit larger than some other decanters, which allows more air for breathing, and also, helps in drying after washing.Suggestion: after washing, I placed a microfiber cloth into a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup, inverted the decanter and leaned it at an angle against a corner (make sure the measuring cup will not slide forward). After a few minutes, I gave the decanter a 180 turn (rotation in place), and allowed it to drip from the other half, as it were. In other words, first it rested on the shorter side of the mouth, and later on the taller side, on the spout, thus allowing both sides of the bowl to drip dry. After a total of about less than 10 minutes, the decanter was completely dry in the inside. I just had to wipe the mouth.Already ordered another one as a gift. The only imperfection is a small air bubble inside the glass, but I suppose these things happen. Short of hitting it, I do not believe that it will burst. If it will, I shall contact seller.

I’ve been looking for a good wine decanter for over a year now. What I’ve previously found have been similar but of cheap quality though not necessarily inexpensive. Even similar decanters in high-end wine stores have been expensive junk. I was so pleased to have found this decanter. Its size is perfect, the quality is excellent, and the price is $20 cheaper than the one I recently saw at an expensive wine store. I even appreciate the tutorial on how long to decant different wines in the product description.This purchase has made a great difference in the flavors and aromas of my wines. Even in less expensive bottles, the bitter aftertastes are greatly diminished. I love this decanter. Be sure to buy the cleaning and drying tools to make caring for this carafe a breeze. I got a book on the art of decanting and after reading it I started looking for a high quality decanter. My first place was to find an antique decanter such as ships decanter referring to the vessel with a very wide bottom. I found a couple of good ones on ebay however when you take into account potential lead in the crystal and the cleaning that would be required to bring some clarity, I decided against vintage decanters for now and settled on the amazon brand new product. There are quite a few to choose from on Amazon however the key measure for me was the specific design such as a wide bottom, lead free crystal and elegance. Skip the ones with a frosted glass and over the top pattern designs. You need a vessel that you can use to assess the color of the wine. The product arrived fast and I was able to test a bottle of Spanish Rioja in the new decanter. Love it. As the wine poured into the crystal vessel, the bubbles on the bottom lit up under a candle light. After letting it rest for 30 minutes I sampled the wine and noticed the delightful changes a good decanter is supposed to deliver. Now thinking about getting one for my friends as a present and adding another one to my collection for a wine tasting party.

While the glass quality & finish is very good, my worry was shipping. Would the glass hold up? …Yes! …The decanter snugly rides in a custom-shaped cutout-styrofoam container (very strong) & wrapped in soft, thin tissue paper. …Safe traveling in Le Chateau’s packaging.Decanter has a simple, classic design and will nicely showcase wine, while it aerates in the wide base. A very good value. Highly recommend.
