If your a photographer and had to pick one piece of luggage for a carry on, you can't go wrong with this. Cavernous interior that accepts the Shimoda organizers. Bright interior means you won't lose anything. Great handles and wheels. Worth the expense.

Sometimes you just don’t want to carry around the Shimoda Action X70 but you need all of that space, and then some.I almost bought the original Carry-on Roller a couple of years ago but kept putting it off. I’m sure glad I did! I ended up buying the DV roller to accommodate my complete GFX setup and a 2 strobe kit. The larger DV Roller easily handles all of that and more and the result is the ability to bring more options on location with me without the pain penalty. Just transitioning the mass from my back to the ground is a huge relief but adding 50% more gear carrying capacity has benefitted me by way of opportunities to be more creative.The design is premium from top to bottom, inside and out. The wheels are chunky with an airless suspension surrounding the axle, giving it a smooth, quiet ride. Speaking of the axle, both wheels have a thru axle that’s supported on both sides with the bag’s frame, upping the durability factor and making them easily replaceable when worn. The bag has a full internal chassis both top and bottom, to support the base and opening system, respectively. It also allows it to stand straight up without leaning or falling over.The trolley handle is a 2-stage setup with 3 levels for a total of 4 different heights, all controlled by the single lock button that also locks the handle in the closed position. The bag’s maw opens smoothly after unzipping and allows you to insert core units directly, loaded or empty. There are also 4 full length, zippered pockets along the sides of the interior and a concealed zipper to open the lining for servicing the frame and wheels. Speaking of pockets, there are 2 large exterior pockets that can even accommodate light stands or tripods. They have a zip closure and integrated drawstring. Lastly are the strap anchors arranged around the exterior so you can easily strap even more directly to the exterior of the bag using Shimoda’s available accessory straps.While too large to use as a carry on, the DV roller is perfect for protecting and transporting large kits wherever you plan to go and easily doubles for non-photographic stuff if you want a travel duffel. It’s a little pricey, especially if you factor in one or more core units, but the ability to convert it for a wide range of uses further adds value. Plus, the use of durable materials and user serviceable design ensures longevity and letting the bag pay for itself in the long run.Just taking the weight off of my back and putting it on wheels will save me thousands in medical costs alone. If you have a dodgy spine or history of back injury, you owe it to yourself to get one of these rollers. And if you don’t, get one to help prevent injuring your back for the future.Of the few “Doctor bag” rolling duffel designs available on the market, the Shimoda seems to be one of the cheapest while being one of the best designed for longevity. So whether your reason is to avoid injury, carry more, or save the planet by reducing waste, any of those three excuses can be used to justify buying one.

I wasn't sure about this at first because it's not very big but once you realize how much you can fit it in vertically (if you aren't picky), it's hard not to fall in love with it. I love the convenience of basically being able to see everything all at once.I wish I could fit more stuff in the side pockets (ie tripods), but all in all this is a big win for getting the weight of your gear off your shoulders. It's also nice that you can easily pull your gear out and use it for regular travel in seconds...which is a lot harder to do with other bags that have tons of dividers and pockets.

This is a great bag, however there is one glaring issue and that it cannot fit a tripod. The way it is depicted in the video with half the tripod extending out of the top is not good. If only the bottom of the side pocket expanded with a zipper just as the top does it would work perfectly. With all of the thought and design into this bag that is a big miss. Even the smallest of travel tripods will not fit. That side pocket can only fit a passport or a slender water bottle. Hope the next version of the bag improves on this.

Very easy bag to use and holds a ton of equipment.
