Can I connect this to my existing Aquatech filter that is running in my tank or do I need a separate air pump?

I would use a separate air pump. The air pump should be powerful to move the propeller fast enough to create the right amount of suction to the unit. Hope that helps.

Where do you get the biological balls to go into the bottom of it?

You will see them, it comes with the balls in it.

Can I buy a replacement part

I am not sure. It did not work for us but we had small gravel in our tank.

Pull it out of the water with a catch-all container ready because once it's pulled out of the water the suction lets go and it drains. I drain it into a separate container, but the contraption back in the fish tank and then dump out and wash the yucky water container
