3 albums in and Rammstein is still perfection with Mutter!!
There are not too many artists who can have 3 albums in a row sound good, let alone great, but Rammstein is in a league of it's own!! Mutter is a much more serious sounding album to me, and you will notice a lot less synthesizers than their previous 2 albums (Herzeleid and Sehnsucht), but this album shows the amazing progression of Rammstein as an artist, and I love it a lot.The tracks included on Mutter are: Mein herz brennt, links 2,3,4, sonne, ich will, feuer frei, mutter, spieluhr, zwitter, rein raus, adiós and nebel. As I mentioned earlier, the songs on Mutter are much more serious as a whole. Tracks like links 2,3,4 and feuer frei speak about politics and the military, while a track like mutter speaks about more personal issues involving a mother and child. Then there are tracks like mein herz brennt, sonne and zwitter which all feature some of the synthesizers that Rammstein are known for, as well as awesome metal riffs. Then there are the miscellaneous tracks like nebel, which is a beautiful song almost verging on gothic, or adiós which is a very fast paced almost punk song.Rammstein blew me away with their first two albums, and Mutter was no exception. With this album Rammstein has shown that they can grow as an artist, while still staying true to their original sound that everyone loves. Mutter is an amazing album, and any true Rammstein fan should own it!!

Excellent album, poorly designed digipack
Excellent album, but I'm removing a star for the poorly designed digipack. The spine orientation is rotated 90 degrees, making it impossible to store properly with standard CDs—it either protrudes awkwardly or becomes unreadable on the shelf. They really shouldn't be giving me reason to not buy physical media

My first venture into German industrial/metal and. . .
I have to say I am quite pleased. The songs have a good flow to each of them, no random stuff to detract. Links 234 and Mutter and Nebel... and all of them are my favorites.... :) but those three first. Nebel is quite interesting. Seriously, if you are interested or if you buy the album, do yourself a favor and dig for some lyrics (in English, or whatever language you prefer). It really brings the overall theme of the song to bear when you have an idea of what they are singing/shouting. For instance, Mutter has the singer singing from the perspective of a child, one that either was unborn? or neglected or somesuch ill favor. I have a copy of the lyrics, but I still am trying to figure out the meaning at the heart of each song. Spieluhr is another good one to read up on. The song may sound loud and energetic, but once you know what they are singing. . . . .So, there you have it. A review of German industrial/rock (forgive me if I mixed up the genres, I don't listen to much music) from an American who is new to both the genre and the language. I like it.
