It arrived and work perfect as per description
It arrived and work perfect as per description. It comes preassembled, what makes easy the installation. It was a turn key project to make it work, no problems . Components quality is very good ! Cant beat the value payback for the price.! I would buy it again.New update : I am updating my review todayAugust 27,2025 …… because it deserves to mention that the system still working fine after so many years in service!

Tank sprung a air leak on 2nd day!
Bought the unit because Red Lion pumps are dependable. The pressure tank is a different story. On the 2nd day of running it pump was cycling different. Discovered there was no air pressure within the tank. When I re-filled it to 20 PSI I could hear air leaking out from a spot weld where the mounting foot was welded to the tank. Assuming its was from the vibration of the pump and a poor spot weld. Bought a "Water Worker" tank (Higher Quality) and attached it to the Red Lion pump. Be careful if you purchase this unit and mounting the tank feet.

Easy to install, appears to function well.
Arrived quickly and was easy to install. Used to pump lake water to a rustic cabin. Provides very good water pressure to the cabin which is 60 feet uphill of the lake. Pump is one month old and time will tell if it will last. So far so good, it is replaces a Gould pump which lasted over forty years but a new Gould cost 4 times as much as this pump. Pump mount on top of bladder tank is pretty flimsy and rocks a bit when the pump turns on. The pump is half the weight of the pump it replaced, if it lasts half as long, I will be very satisfied.

Junk
I was able to get this to work once. It took hours to get it to prime, and it lost its prime after a few minutes of being shut down. I've yet to get it to move water a second time. My application isn't a shallow well, but a 2,000 gallon rainwater collection tank feeding an irrigation system. Plumbing the inlet of the pump directly to the bottom of the tank should make priming it painless. Nope.Edit: I discovered that my check valve was leaking by contributing to the loss of prime. Upon replacement, it again worked. Once. Now I can't get it up to 50 in less than 10 minutes while feeding it pressurized city water. Once there, I hook it back up to the rain barrels and try to start watering. Works great until it uses all the pressure up. It pumps at maybe one gallon per hour. So much for Red Lion being a reputable brand.Second edit: I rebuilt the pump and it has since performed as expected. Leaving the rating at 3 stars as it shouldn't have been so difficult to prime, especially if the pump internals aren't robust enough to survive the process.

Strong and quiet
We purchased a house and discovered that it had a private well for garden irrigation. The previous owners pretty obviously had never used it and had forgotten to mention it at all so when we found it in the undeveloped back part of the property the old 3/4 hp pump was in bad shape and needed replacing. I actually ordered this one without noticing that it was 1/2 hp instead of 3/4 hp so I was concerned that we’d have less water pressure than the old pump we were replacing. In actuality this pump, with the pressure tank, is more than capable of drawing water up the shallow well but also pushing that water not only up a 15-20 foot slope to our main yard but also through another 150 feet of garden hose with plenty of pressure to spare so we’re able to water all the various garden areas in our yard. The unit also works very quietly.

Doing good so far.
Using this as a replacement unit for a red lion that pushed up hill for 3 to 5 weeks every summer since 1999. This unit is a great replacement. It's primary use is to power my shower in a summer home my family uses a few weeks a year. The pump pulls lake water up about 20 feet and outward near 100 feet of water line and still spits enough pressure at the shower head to function as required without an additional pump. So if you're using this shallow pump in a more traditional manner without a tremendous uphill fight like my rig, you will likely be more than pleased.

Pretty darn unit
Pretty easy to install just before to get a one way valve that way you don't lose prime . Works great one 120 and is an energy saver on our solar system coming in at only 367 watts .
