Piano Time 1 Paperback – November 2, 2006

Well written, I found it easy to follow. It seems like a children's book, but everyone has to start somewhere.

Great book for beginners. Piano Time is a good systematic progression but keep in mind it is not for all absolute beginners. Don’t buy from Book Depository. Takes forever ! Didn’t get my last order! Will not buy from them again !

Gave it as a gift. It was recommended by a family member who's a piano teacher in the UK.

Quite a good piano tutor book which I do use but I use it in combination with other books as there isn't really any one perfect tutor book that I have found that has it all. This book appeals to children more and is bright and fresh with some colour drawings in. There are a few 'musical quiz' pages-basic theory without it seeming like you are teaching them theory so it doesn't put them off, they don't find it too technical, it's quite fun for them. The print is a good size, clear without being too large so it doesn't look too 'mickey mouse music-like' for if adults are tackling some of the songs. This newest edition has a few better pieces in than the original one that I had. There are a few basic duets also. Another of Pauline Hall's books I can recommend is Piano Time Carols-this is excellent all the way through the book, lots of well-known carols (solos and duets) and is not too hard or too easy. The arrangements sound quite pleasant and are useful for both adults and children. Both of these books, if fact the whole series, are quite reasonably priced. They aren't too thick so it won't seem like it's taking forever to complete all the book. Another good thing is it will lay flatter than some music books on the music stand and will actually stay open while you are reading the music and performing it-thicker books with spines tend to shut or fall off!
