Measured mine. From the centre of the track to the top of the inside of the tunnel is 55mm

Do the figures fit into the metro carriages?

The figures do fit intothe train but must be seated to go through a tunnel or under a bridge. Fab set, my grandaughter loves it, along with the sounds.

Does the train run Without anyone pushing it?

No, you need to move the train at all times. The front lights turn on only when you move the train.
