I'm wondering how these compare to the wharfedale diamond 9.1 ? Guess I'll have to buy a pair and compare myself ?!

I guess so. These are very, very nice speakers. they are warm and have a good response. The mid-output is perfect for my basement system (vintage pioneer amp, twin Soundlab decks and a bog-standard Sub-zero mixer). I find that cranking can overload them but the sweet spot (which is pretty loud) is exquisite. They have clarity, definition and detail, depending on what is driving them. I am very happy and the cherrywood cabs look gorgeous.

What kind of cable would I need for these speakers?

Hi, I used the following, both bought from Amazon. - Electrosmart 25m Red/Black 2x 1mm 2x 89 Strand Speaker Cable Wire for Home HiFi/Car Audio , coupled with a set of AudioPro Gold Plated 4mm Banana Plugs, that did the trick!

Can you use an RCA audio cable to connect these up to an amp?

Not using the speakers at the moment, However wouldn't use RCA audio connector. The speaker terminals are no really designed for them. A banana plug, not winding you up, is one option for connecting a speaker cable. The terminals will also accept a bare wire which can then be secured by tightening the terminal locking screw.
