Worth it!
Ordered for my grandmother after her eye surgery and this pillow is the only reason she was able to rest comfortably. It's definitely worth it if you are looking for post eye surgery care. the breathing space fit her face perfectly, it was easy to clean and has lasted through the second eye surgery she's had.

Great for face down sleeping
This pillow is very comfortable for face down sleeping. I like it for naps also. It's easy to breath with the open section on the bottom back of the pillow.

Sturdy & Soft
This is a very sturdy and soft pillow. I bought it in advance of a retinal detachment repair surgery when I was told I would need to remain face-down for 2 weeks. It turns out I could lay on one side, which I preferred, so I did not use the pillow. Upon my initial testing prior to the surgery, I was very happy with the comfort and fit.The only think I wonder is if it would get too hot with the fleece covering.

Face down pillow
I purchased this pillow for use after my Vitrectomy eye surgery. It works for what is needed. Only thing i would change about the pillow is possibly make the face hole bigger and not have the seam around the hole on the front. The seam digs into my chin as i lay on it and makes it uncomfirtable to sleep on all night as i need to be face down all night. Would work great for quick massagesthough.

This is the one!!
I have tried numerous other Face/Prone pillows and none of them were comfortable. They were actually uncomfortable. This one is truly the one you can actually fall asleep using. My problem is not eye surgery recovery, but is an ongoing issue of pressure sores on my bottom. I am wheel chair bound, and I need relief from recurring pressure sores.I have MS and have severe atrophy in my lower body due to my inability to walk. I have no “cushion” anymore to keep my bony self comfortable.Lying on my side in bed provides relief, but I cannot always lay that way without having pain in my greater trochanter area.I needed to find a way to lye on my stomach to relive the pressure in my bottom and sides. Also, with limited head rotation due to cervical spine fusion, sleeping on my stomach with my head turned to the side is not an option.I have found this face pillow to be the perfect solution. It is constructed of very soft material, and is firm enough to keep my face elevated and breath without problems. It also assists in elevating my torso, lessening the on my neck as my face is elevated in the pillow. I do however, need to keep an additional pillow under my chest to elevate it more.Others have complained that the hole is too small. I have a big head, and it fits me well. Of course I do not have to worry about any eye pressure against the cushion, as I have not had eye surgery. If the hole was any bigger, it would not support the weight of my head anyways, and my face would just fall through hole. This is the face cushion you need if you are trying so lye on your stomach, and you can’t turn your head.

Very Uncomfortable
Recovering from a vitrectomy is difficult enough, and I thought this pillow might help with face down head positioning. For me it was terrible. The hole that your face sits in is too small, and ends up putting pressure on the side of your eyes. If you reposition your head so that your surgery eye is centered, then your nose will be pushed against the side and it will make it hard to breathe. Worse than the small hole size is the steep angle of the pillow and wedge. It arches your neck and shoulders back to be able to place your face and head into the elevated hole. This reverse arching is extremely uncomfortable after a very short time. It’s not like you are laying flat on a massage table with your face placed in the opening. Since there is no opening on the bed where you place this pillow, the opening is created by you arching your neck and shoulders back about 10 inches and the opening is created by the stacked pillows. Bending my neck and shoulders back like a banana was terribly uncomfortable for me. I did better just lying flat and hanging my head over the edge of the bed.

Works well
This face-down pillow checks all my checkboxes...IMO, a good face-down pillow supports your forehead and cheeks, stays away from the eyes, limited pressure on the chin. Needs to have good ventilation so you don't feel like you're re-breathing the same air. It needs to be deep enough that your arms can angle downward comfortably and your nose doesn't touch the bed mattress.Takes some getting used to. At first, I could only go an hour or two. I have gradually increased my face-down time to 3 or 4 hours. You will probably want an additional pillow under your torso, to ramp your body up to the level of the face-down pillow. Once in position, I pull the ventilation opening further apart to enhance ventilation.

Face hole small. Wedge angle steep. Side pillows obstruct air flow.
Post retinal detachment repair surgery, I thought this pillow might help with face down head positioning. But it was uncomfortable sadly. The hole for face is too small, resulting in pressure on side of the eyes.No matter how one positions the head to comfortly avoid the eye being pressed. The wedge angle of the pillow hurts the neck and shoulders within few minutes. For ladies with fair size bust, the side cushions of this pillow actually put strain rather than relieve or support the lying face down position. The good part is that the fabric is softBut the pillow weight is too heavy to lift for a person who undergoes eye surgery.
