Very effective. Has a neutral smell, which is preferable to smelling like a perfumery. You get a big bottle so it lasts a decent amount of time. Nikwax is a quality brand that can be trusted.

This is a Sports Refresh washing liquid from Nikwax.The liquid is designed for sports/activewear items in the need of some refresh and for regular washing. The washing liquid comes in 1 litre bottle. The liquid can be used in a washing machine and also for hand washing with gloves on (which is useful for smaller loads or more urgent stain/smell removal). It is useful to have a dedicated washing detergent for sports clothes.The bottle is recyclable. I really appreciate the fact that it is a water based formula and also the fact that Nikwax do not use PFAS.The washing liquid contains a mixture of surfactants, compounds with antimicrobial properties and fragrance. The ingredients might not be suitable for people with sensitive skin or skin allergies.

Great sports wash. Fab on cold or 30 degrees wash.

Regular laundry detergents don't really do a good job on the smell of sweat, much to the wife's chagrin. There are some cleaning products out there which claim to work but actually just mask the smell with a stronger more pleasant smell - one I tried simply made my kit give off the aroma of oregano very powerfully - a bit weird to smell like a herb garden.This detergent does have some scent to it, and you can smell it a bit on the kit after it's been washed, but it's not all that strong. It does seem to be doing a considerably better job than regular laundry detergents, but there are still areas where if I sniff I can still get the sweat quite clearly. So it's not perfect, but still pretty good.One thing I would be concerned about, given that I try to use eco-friendly detergents as much as possible, is to how this stands in that regard. Given that it probably has to use some powerful substances to do its job, one might suspect that it isn't particularly eco-friendly. Also, because my hands were a bit tingly after handling the kit after washing, that also makes me wonder what is in here and whether it will cause skin irritation on my body as a result of wearing the kit. One eco-friendly thing to try perhaps before resorting to something like this, and which I have found to be helpful albeit not quite as good as this detergent, is soaking the kit in bicarbonate of soda for a while before washing.

I wash all our sports and gym gear in this and it has stopped it smelling. Very effective. Have it on subscription now.

This did get the smell out of old sports clothes after nothing else had worked, but it left behind a very strong chemical smell that wasn’t much better!

My least favourite job is cleaning out my families sports wear, from gym clothes to the children's PE kits. Whilst this doesn't make any of that job any easier it definitely has a great outcome and leaves everything smelling clean and fresh. The clothes previously had light odours and wasn't anything heavy so I would like to see how this product would fare with items with heavier odours.There are a few caveats when using this product, there are clear warnings/messages to not use this product with fabric softener and it shouldn't be used with any pieces of kit that are waterproof.I wish the lid of this bottle came with in in-built measuring cup, it would make pouring this product much easier.Overall a solid product.
