I have this set up as a "critter cam" to see what wild friends are coming into the yard. The Solar Panel is mounted about the camera to shed the rain away (once we get rain agin). The shape of the panel works well on the south side of our yard, first getting the morning sun, then transitioning to the late afternoon sun. I really like the combination of this panel with a battery camera so we can place cameras where we want to and not where we have a power socket.

We had to replace a solar panel for one of our camera and I came across this design. Not only does it work just as good for a fraction of the price but it also helps to keep the rain off the lens. I was impressed how simple it was to install and how well it keeps the camera charged up. Not too large and it seems to be holding up just fine.

I like the peak style design.Easy to install.This unit has a micro-USB while most newer items are Type-CI still like it, if it came with an adapter or more descriptive with the style of plug it came with.

The description says it comes with 9 ft of cable. It does NOT. the only cable it comes with is the one directly attached to the panel which is 6 inches.DO NOT BUY.

See, I had gotten a really nice little "cap" for my front security cam, but it is a little more "protected" than the back one so I took the "rain cap" off that front one and put it on the back security camera. I did this a da after we had a serious downpour - so strong I couldn't see a THING on that back cam! Now, it has that little cap which does a great job, but now my front cam has no cap! Okay so I could get another cap, but this cam's solar panel had apparently stopped working anyway - it was no longer charging the camera and I checked the connections, made sure the solar panel was very clean and yet it was not charging the cam any longer. That meant I needed a new solar panel and why not "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak! This solar panel was mounted just above the front cam so it now has a "cap" over it, and this solar panel is keeping the cam's battery charged up - win-win! This would be great for any solar security camera you may have (that uses this type of usb plug). For me, it is exactly what I needed!

The 5W at 5V roof style solar pannel I received struggles to deliver 3v in cloudy conditions, where other 5w solar panels I've reviewed were able to do so. If I'm going to keep cameras charged up, it's important they deliver 5v at modest current even in cloudy days.The split pitch of the pannels I believe are contributing to the issue because either one, or the other, or neither will be directly facing the sun due to both of them being angled away from each other.The pannel also has a very short cable terminating in a micro USB male plug. The listing shows a slightly longer cable. Neither are long enough unless I mount the solar manel directly above the camera, or other device needing a charge.Birdfeeder solar cameras would be one application. Hidden birdhouse security rechargeable camera is another application as long as the camera is able to manage fluctuating voltages.If this was providing power to a small power manager to charge up a modest Lithium battery running lights or a camera, then I believe this will safely provide enough current and voltage throughout the day regardless of the sky's condition. None of my cameras would do well with this particular solar panel. I have 6 cameras currently being charged up daily on solar panels, and planned on installing more for keeping an eye on deer that feel my property is a salad buffet.I may switch gears and use this particular panel to charge up some low lumens solar path lights instead.On the fence recommending the solar pannel.
