Reliable and high quality
Purchased this ages ago and still sounds nice and crisp as the day I got it. Using with a Yamaha AG03 mixer.

Best mic I've used
Love this mic. Replaced the Shure SMB7 with this and love the sound quality. Couldn't be happier. The build is solid. A little heavy but with the right boom or desk mount, it's not an issue. Using it with the Rode Procaster 2 and it's amazing. Bought 2 more for my 2nd and 3rd chairs in the studio.

By far, the best microphone I have purchased
I was using the Audio Technica AT2020 condenser mic for quite some time. While it is a very good microphone, it was very sensitive in picking up my background noise. I needed a dynamic mic that would only capture just my voice with very little to possibly no background noise. I read up on the Procaster and thought, even though it's a microphone that has been available for quite some time, it looks to be the mic that I needed. And that it was! First impressions, the mic is built like a truck. Solid metal casing, nice grilles along the top end, and even though I have no experience with any high end or expensive studio microphones, I just knew the procaster would meet my expectations based on the construction. Not only is it built solidly, but it has some serious weight to it. It's about 1.5 to 1.7 lbs, so my cheap boom arm was not going to handle it.I have read that you need a cloudlifter or some sort of preamp to use with the mic, which is somewhat true. The input or sound is very low. However, I didn't need one as the mixer I have had more than enough preamp ability to provide sufficient gain to the mic. If you have a mixer with a good preamp, then you don't need to spend the extra money for an additional preamp. The procaster is exactly what I needed. It captures my voice (which is deeper) extremely well. Most notably, it does not pick up much of the background noise that my AT2020 would. Perfect! I just had to adjust to keeping my mouth near the mic to maintain sound. It comes with a built in pop filter, which I can confirm works great. I could use the foam pop filter I had lying around, but the mic just looks sexier without it. It does not need any phantom power to work either since it is a dynamic microphone! The mic came in a nice leather pouch, with an adapter and some docs in the box. I was very please to see that I could register and get the 10 year warranty for the mic. 10 years! That tells me RODE is confident in their products. Overall, the quality, the performance, and price, just outstanding across the board! When I need additional equipment, RODE will be the very first in line for my business!

Best Decision I Made for a First Mic
I love this mic. I need to figure out how to balance out the sound and get rid of the high end canniness via my Personus software, but the quality is killer and the canniness is expected. When I throw the audio on Garage Band, I can select different voice options which automatically balances out the sound and gets rid of the high end reverb. It's so crisp. Still learning Personus.I record out of my garage. My garage door and walls have insulation, but you can still hear traffic outside to some extent in my garage. Dog barks inside the house on occasion, but the mic doesn't pick up any of that sound whatsoever. I also try to record later in the evening and put the dog in the back of the house. So that has helped. I plan to buy one more Procaster for interviewing and other dual recording options. It's definitely high quality. It's a heavy mic. You don't need the RODE boom stand for it. You can buy a cheaper version. it screws in just fine and comes with it's own adapter screw adapter. I did get the Rode PSM 1 Shockmount though. I also use a Berhringer Uphoria UMC404hd preamp with Monoprice Gold tipped balanced 6ft XLR cables. I also use Personus Studio One for Mac (has PC option). This is the best price set up that maintained quality that I could find. The built-in pop filter works really well, but I have decided to buy an additional pop filter for it since it can still pick up a few plosives.Rode Procaster sounds AWESOME even on Garage Band. You won't regret getting it if you need a high quality Dynamic Mic.

Love this MIC
I was looking for a sturdy well built dynamic studio mic. My studio is in an open family room in my house so all ambient noise was drastically interfering with my podcast/radio shows. So i wanted a dynamic mic. I was torn between this and the RE20. The RE20 is what my station uses in their booths and it is an industry favorite. However, at the time i was not ready to spend and additional $200. I chose this RODE procaster and I am so happy I did. It is as well built as our station mics and the sound is crisp and clear... and best of all the ambient noise is no longer an issue. I like the way it sounds on my home setup more than our studio setup. And much cheaper than the RE20. It does not require phantom power but on my Mackie mixer it did take a lot of gain to get the volume and output i wanted. So i opted for a FetHead inline booster. I run phantom power to my mic to get a good signal boost and the FetHead filters out the 48v Phantom. This allowed me to reduce my gain to almost nothing and still get loud clean sound. And much easier than a cloud booster. I have since added three more Procasters to my home studio so I can have guests on my radio show and podcast directly at my home. Forewarning though, it is heavy and so I would recommend a solid boom arm, not a cheap brand, and use the shock mounts built for RODE mics. 100% satisfied with this product.
