Sharpener.
Good sharpener, takes a little getting used to,as in how much pressure to apply when sharpening.

Quick basic sharpening tool
Nicely made and a good compromise if you don’t want the hassle of stones.

Does a perfect job
Definitely go light on the main sharpener, it only needs a few steady pulls, you don't want to be using that one often, it does some serious metal shaving. But it's great to do a few pulls now and again, then use the ceramic sharpener for refining the edge and maintaining the sharp clean edge

Mac the Knife
I don’t want to be unfair, but I do feel this knife sharpener promises quit a lot and doesn’t really fully deliver. It’s really quite complicated to get it to work properly. The adjustable angle feature is in theory a good idea, except the dial spins around like a whirling dervish, leaving you guessing what angle you’ve actually chosen. Are my knives 16 degrees? 20? 45? Who knows…. Probably not even the manufacturers. To be honest, once underway it sharpens well enough, but my old basic knife sharpener, (which cost half as much) gets the job done in a less stressful fashion and without making me feel like I’m in a nightmare about failing a trigonometry exam. However, it does have some redeeming qualities. The scissors sharpener is a useful extra, which my old one does not have…..though getting my scissors to fit was like trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. However, it worked in the end, and scissors are much sharper. It’s quick and effective on dull knives, but not exactly the all singing and dancing super sharpener I was hoping for, although it does LOOK fancy and make you feel like a professional chef.It has a very effective non slip base too. Maybe it’s something I need to get used to, but I don’t have enough knives that need sharpening to practice.Perfect for:A. A kitchen prop in a TV series about a professional cookB. Mafia member or circus knife thrower who has enough knives to practice and get this perfectC. Slightly pretentious dinner party host who wants to look like they are wealthy and can cookD. RegiftingI can’t give it one or two stars as it looks great, doesn’t slip and once you’ve worked out how to work it, it does the job well. But I don’t want to issue 5 stars either as it’s so stressful trying to learn how to use it.So on the fence with this…

Solid sharpener
Having used this with a few knives now, my impression is this is a decent all round knife sharpener. In might not be as effective as some other methods (for example a whetstone) but it more than makes up with this with speed and ease of use.My initial impression was that the sharpener was larger than I expected. However, that turned into a plus for me as I found it helped my ability to grip it while keeping my hand away from the blade, and improved its overall stability, making it feel safer to use overall.I like that you can adjust the angle of the sharpening edges depending on your blade. I did find it tricky to figure out what the best angle would be (although it does have printed guidance) and ended up just judging this by sight. In terms of effectiveness, it does a pretty good job. The coarse section shaves of a decent amount of metal with each pass, and the fine section cleans up the blade nicely. It does leave burrs and shavings that will need tidying up, but that's to be expected. I've managed to take some very blunt old kitchen knives to decent sharpness without too much effort.Overall, I think this is a good product, and if you're looking for a safe and easy to use sharpener it's a very solid choice.
