Does this come with a storage or carrying case in addition to the stand? What do you do with it when you want to put it away?

No storage case. But finding something to store it in wouldn't be to difficult. I was thinking about using my old laptop neoprean case. Mine stays out all the time. If I need the counter space in the kitchen bar area where it lives. I just move it temporarily to another room

Yes, it's full of them. Make you sure cook it well prior to consuming. The manufacturer recommends that you cook it at med-high heat for 20 minutes prior to consuming the board.

If I use a hairdryer to gently quicken the drying, will it hurt the board?

No, but I would of course keep it on cool instead of heat.

On youtube, it shows there should be a placemat board that comes with this for spillage. Do you get the placemat with this?

The Placemat Board that comes with the Buddha Board is known as the Drip Tray. It is an actual plastic board that the Buddha Board stand rests on top of just in case water slide occurs with the calligraphy and evaporation. The Drip Tray comes standard with the package of The Original Buddha Board.
