Durable
Super pleased. I bought this two years ago and it is still going strong. The wire on the bow knife finally broke and I came back here thinking I'd need to figure out the wire spec and order more wire somewhere. When I looked at the listing, I realized that extra wire was included, and I went back found the spool still there in the box. This is not two years of mild crafty use either. I use it to cut packing materials and I use it a lot. Now I just need to figure out how to get residue off the two very bent but still working wand cutters.

Excellent product for cutting styrofoam.
Looking for a tool to cut through foam quickly, easily and mess-free? This is tge product for you! After using this product for only an hour, I'm ready to give it 10 out of 5 stars.I make insulated beds for the stray cats that stay on my property out of styrofoam coolers, so they have a place to sleep and stay warm in the winter. I used to use a utility knife to cut the foam and it got the job done, but it left a mess to clean up after. Not sure why it took me so long to look into a specific tool to use for this job, but I found it with the GOCHANGE Foam Cutter. This foam cutter gets the job I need done in a fraction of the time it took to cut with a utility knife, with zero mess to clean up afterwards! You get three types of cutting tools - two thicker pen-type cutters (short and long) and a bow that uses much thinner wire as the pens, with a spool of extra wire you can use to replace as needed. Simply choose your cutter, snap it into the handle, switch the tool on, wait 10 seconds or less for the pen or wire to heat up, and start cutting. The tool heats up the styrofoam as you move the tool through it effortlessly, no small bits of foam are left behind, and the cut surface is smooth and clean. It's really that simple! The hardest part of using this tool is having a steady hand to make accurate, straight cuts, but that is not a fault of the tool at all! I really wish I would have thought to look for something like this sooner. I purchased this at retail for $30 (at the time of this writing it is 10% off), and it was well worth the price for the convenience, ease-of-use and all the parts included with the kit.Another convenient use for this product I found - if you have foam that has been cut and left a rough edge that continues to shed pieces of foam, you can use this tool to "cauterize" the area - either shave a little bit of the jagged edge off or use the tool to burn the area, and it will stop the shedding of loose pieces of foam.Another reviewer mentioned about fumes given off from the heat and I will agree that this should be used in a well-ventilated area, even wearing a face mask to prevent breathing in any fumes is a good idea. Really the only time I encountered the tool giving off any kind of fumes is when it is turned on and heats up, if there is any kind of residue left on the pen or wire from previous use. The manual says to wipe the tool off with a wet sponge after it has been turned off and cooled down to remove any blackened burnt-on foam; I found this method to be completely ineffective, as once you turn the tool off and it cools down any material burnt on the tool it will not come off easily once it has cooled. I used a dampened paper towel to quickly wipe the tool while it is still on - this was much more effective. If you are going to do this, make sure you use enough paper towel so that you will not burn your fingers, and make sure it is damp!

Definitely worth the price
I bought a pair of ceramic deer from Amazon recently, but didn't want to use the styrofoam that it came in for storage. I saved some 1 inch soft foam packing material I received from a different order, layered it, traced the outline of the deer with the included blue marker and cut the shape. I used the 12cm tip. To make it easier, I mounted the tool to a board and attached it to the edge of a work table so the rod was facing upward. This allowed me to move the foam around on the table surface more precisely and perpendicularly. You could certainly do it freehand, but it would be a little trickier. I wish I had been careful to make the outline smaller than the desired cutout so that there wouldn't be any traces of blue left over on the foam. That's my fault, obviously not a negative of the product. You should move along slowly if you are using thick foam and periodically wipe of the excess melted foam goo that gathers on the tip. The smoke is nasty. I suggest using this tool in a well ventilated area and wearing respirator, or at minimum, one of those disposable masks with a carbon filter (that is... "Nuisance Level Organic Vapor Relief.")This cutter is a few dollars more than some of the others available. I decided to go with this one because the build quality seemed better. The on/off switch seems to be better than some of the other units out there. The thing heats up very quickly. Changing out the different attachments is pretty easy and feels solid. The longer 12cm could be broken off if you push it too hard, but that's just because a longer tip experiences more leverage forces. I haven't used any of the other tips yet, so I can't speak to their build quality, but they seem comparable.I'm happy with my purchase. This one is just a few dollars more than the cheapest ones out there, but I think it is a better value for the money. My ceramic deer will be well protected in the off season.

Electric Foam Cutter
I had this foam cutter for a while and never used it. And today I used it to cut a thin piece of foam for the first time. And it died after one use. So disappointing. I would not recommend buying this item.

great tool - really impressed - used it to insulate overhead garage door
Purchased this in order to cut 1.25” thick foam to insulate the overhead garage door. I really dreaded cutting the foam because it normally results in a huge mess but with this tool there is no mess. The tool worked great and I would highly recommend it for anyone that plans to cut foam. It made cutting easy and found it great to make detailed cutouts as well with the leftover foam.I called a garage door company to get a price on insulating the door and they wanted $1,300.00 but with this tool and $65 of R6 foam I was able to do it myself in about 1 hour.
