Alginic Acid Works Very Well... with some tweaks!
My Background: 30 year sufferer of GERD, LPR, IEM and unfortunately know more than most doctors about these clinical conditions. The Product: I have tested Esophageal Guardian for about a week and it works very well and has an ok taste (if you like strawberries). Highly recommend.Tips: 1) This product contains Alginic Acid which reacts to stomach acid to form a foam raft which blocks reflux. You always look for the highest concentration of AA in these types of products. 2) You need to chew thoroughly into foam and swallow. Limit water afterwards (contrary to instructions) as water will break the foam raft. 3) if you have a bad case of LPR (sore throat, burning throat, lump in throat feeling (globus) etc. do not use this product as the citric acid will react to lodged pepsin and exasperate your condition! (different than GERD). 4) Do not take chewable antacids prior to use. It needs your stomach acid to react and build that raft. 5) Always use after meals and drink, not during or before.Again, great product and a decent price per dose for off the shelf (I have made my own).Foam raft lasts 4-6 hours... so past my major nighttime reflux events. Can recommend. Good luck and good healing!

Helped with LPR flare up
Two weeks of consistent use before bed and my LpR flare up has calmed significantly. It’s foamy and a bit tangy, but not unpleasant.

It works!
This works really well for me but the taste is horrible! I think I'm slowly adapting to the taste but it is bad! Just chew fast and swallow & follow with a lot of water. It's bitter & chalky but foamy and gets stuck in your teeth but it's worth it.

Doesn't work consistently.
I have pretty bad GERD sometimes. The first time I used this it worked great. The second time, it didn't work at all, it actually made my symptoms worse. I used it as instructed. It does kind of have a funny taste to it and the foaming sensation takes some getting used to.

Have water ready!
This product works but beware, the fizzy aspect is not pleasant. Once you start chewing, it fizzles up and dries your mouth. It must be chewed because it is too big to swallow. The taste is ok but a full glass of water is strongly recommended. It's something I only take when in need.

Seems to help esophagitis heal
Edited to add a few years later: This is a lifesaver for me to have on hand. I have learned that I have a hiatal hernia, and can get a flare up of GERD if I deviate from routine. When I have a flare up, my throat gets raw / sores and I need something to help it heal and keep the reflux at bay. This works perfect for me. I recently had to take some strong medicine and was ill for several days, which caused a nasty bout of GERD, reflux at night and awful sore throat / difficuty swallowing. Thankfully, I had a bottle on hand. Within a few days, I had it under control so I could stop the damage, and heal substantially using salt / baking soda rinses.Original:I've only been using this supplement for less than 2 weeks but so far, I have noticed a difference in my reflux and my esophagitis feels like it is healing. I recently had an uptick in LPR, it took me a while to figure out that it had come back. Unfortunately, it was bad enough to burn my throat and leave me with a sore throat. I have been chewing two tablets after dinner because if I get reflux, it's usually about 4 hours after dinner when I'm in bed. This supplement apparently lasts up to 4 hours, so it carries me through my "danger zone" time. The berry flavor is strong but it doesn't bother me.

It works
This tastes good and works well. I tried making my own Gaviscon UK version from recipes found on the web, but it made me gag so bad, tasted disgusting. These tablets are so much easier and taste way better.I’m trying to quit PPIs after 2 years daily use. These are helping with the acid rebound. I’m also taking famotadine 20mg 4x daily. It’s so hard to quit PPIs, even my PCP says it’s bad to take long term, but my GI doesn’t care. This is my 4th time trying to quit, but I never used any alginate or alginic acid products before. I found Dr Jamie Koufman’s blog and bought her books. Explains so much about acid reflux.Recommended!! Thank you.

This stuff works! Calms upset stomach and helps with reflux!
This stuff works great. Tastes -meh- need to drink a glass of water with it anyway. I chew it to break it up and swallow it quickly. It doesn’t taste too bad, really, it’s more like the chalky feel that makes it less pleasant. It works different than omeprazole. You get relief pretty quick. Does not last as long perhaps—but usually adequateSame active ingredient as the new Gaviscon extra strength ( not to be confused with plain old Gaviscon which is dirt cheap, been around forever, and works pretty good itself) but this is a bit cheaper than the brand name and contains other minerals which are antacids too.I just ordered my third bottle. My daughter tried it too and was impressed.
