MidWest Canvas SC-CL-000301 Supreme Clear 15-Feet Round Above Ground Solar Cover

I originally purchased a blue 12-mil cover and it lasted one summer, literally disintegrating at the end of the second summer: there were little, blue circles of plastic all over the pool. The 16-mil is definitely an improvement on the 12-mil, which makes sense. The thicker the material, the better insulated the water will be at night. Also, I have heard that the darker material heats the "cover" and not other "water", and this might be true. I can't say that the clear cover warms the water more effectively than the blue cover. With both models, I found pockets of warm water at the end of the day, and it was usually warmer at the top of the pool than the bottom. We are still in the middle of the first summer, so it's hard to say how durable the material will be, but so far so good. I'm hoping the added thickness will contribute to the durability of the cover. It comes with a warranty. I can't remember the length, but it was longer than a year and I remember thinking, "There is no way it's going to last that long." But we'll see. The next time I will be sure to purchase another 16-mil, or one of greater thickness if available.

This is a good quality solar cover and it feels like it is twice as thick as the last "intex" cover that I had (which proceeded to deteriorate after two seasons of use....little blue pieces of plastic floating all over the pool).This is essentially very thick piece of clear bubble wrap. It does the trick and warms the water when subject to direct sunlight. I should note that this cover, out of the box, is HUGE. I have a 15' round x 30" deep Intex Easy Set pool, and this cover would touch the ground all the way around the pool (in other words, it covered the ENTIRE pool). I ended up using a scissors and cutting the cover down to size such that it would just float on the surface and tuck nicely under the inflatable blue ring around the top edge of the pool. Much better that way.

The cover lets us get in our pool sooner and we really like it. It is bit bulky but worth it.
