Cuia E Bomba Para Chimarrão - Gourd

Arrived very nicely packaged with instructions on how to cure it. Cuia is very high quality. It is hand engraved, with some beautiful burned in accents. The base is securely glued on. The rim fits tight (my other cuia from Brazil has a loose rim.)The bombilla is quite nice too. It is jewel encrusted. ; ) The strainer at the bottom has many holes that make it suitable for finer Yerba from Uruguay and Brazil. (It won’t get stuck as easily.)My only complaint is that it is quite large. I was hoping for a smaller gourd, but I guess it is up to chance.Overall a very nice package for a great price! Thank you!

This is a great Cuya to prepare chimarrao. The size is a little bit small but works perfectly

Firstly, it is with great sadness that I must give this product a one star review. The gourd itself looks beautiful. It can fit a lot of erva mate inside and it is sturdy. The bombilla is large and has a nice weight to it. I washed both the gourd and bombilla with water and set them out to dry on a drying rack. Fast forward a couple days and I am ready to use this thing. I fill the gourd 2/3 with mate and grab the bombilla. To my dismay, the mouthpiece of the bombilla is rusted. I cannot put my mouth on rust and drink it. The gourd is fine, but now is totally unusable for chimarrao because I do not have a bombilla. I have to give this product one star because it should not rust so easily and so fast. It was not sitting in water. I rinsed it and set it to dry. I did not even get to use this product once. It is a shame because I was very excited and looking forward to using this product. I cannot understand why the manufacturer would not use stainless steel. I wanted a nice traditional and natural gourd/bombilla for an authentic experience. I guess I will have to find one made with stainless steel now.

I just received the Cuia (gourd) along with the bomba or bombilla. I have been looking all over amazon for this particular style gourd and bomba. I'm overall I'm satisfied with the item. It came with a couple of complimentary Brazilian candies. I placed my order on the 11th of January and it came within 3 business days arriving on the 15th. It came one day before expected delivery date so kudos to the seller for excellent and fast shipping!CONS:My only gripe would be that I was expecting the Cuia that I saw in the picture. I hope the seller changes it so there is no confusion in the future. I still love the gourd though. I can appreciate the artwork and how it was carefully handcrafted. Lastly, in the description it says "Erva Mate" which I thought would be included, this is a bit misleading so just be aware before you buy.PROS:What I did like about the gourd overall is the huge spoon type gourd good for the "Chimarrao" or gaucho type mates. The rim is huge and looks like it is able to fit a whole lot of mate in there. The metal stand is a big + I really can't wait to sip out this thing just don't forget to cure it before use.Has potential to be a 5 star item if the seller fixes the issues that I addressed. Salud!

The cuia is fine and this one didn't leak. But, the bomba is not inox (stainless steel) so it is rusting. Needless to say, I will have to wait until I find a proper bomba before I can enjoy my chimarrão. I lived in the south of Brazil and I really miss this daily custom. I bought this cuia and bomba because I accidentally left mine while I was traveling. I'm searching for a really good quality bomba, preferably from the south, maybe decorated with ametistas or other jewels/stones. So, if anyone knows a good place that ships internationally, please let me know.

It’s awesome! I still use and love it, but it’s a gourd. It will grow mold. Trust me! Sucks to clean if you let it go too far
