Good product - crazy instructions!
Item works great but instructions are very misleading as mine described using a syringe to push new fluid from the caliper bleed port back up into the lever followed by gravity bleed back down to the caliper - crazy! I found that to bleed system all you need to do is remove fill screw on top of reservoir of lever, screw in the funnel and fill about 1/2 full with Shimano Mineral Oil. Then connect a short 6"-8" piece of vinyl tubing (comes with the 50ml bottle of Shimano Mineral oil - total ripoff for what you pay) to bleed port on caliper and route the open end into a bag or small bottle to catch the old fluid you flush out. I'd remove the pads from the caliper to reduce the chance of getting any oil on the pads which will ruin them. Use a 7mm wrench to loosen the bleed port about 1/8 of a turn and Newton's friend should do its work and pull fluid from funnel through system and out bleed port into your bag or container at end of tube. Watch fluid level in funnel to make sure it doesn't get too low and pull air into the system. Once clean pink fluid comes out the bleed port, tighten it back up, remove the tube and funnel, put fill screw back on lever and you should be good to go - easy peasy - none of this multistep Avid-like bleed crap required!

"Cup and Toothpick looking thing"
If you haven't bled your brakes before and you're wondering what in the world this little cup and toothpick thing are, don't sweat it, just do yourself a favor and buy this if you have a Shimano master cylinder with a bleed port. With this funnel, you save some serious time and less headache. The funnel screws into the master cylinder bleed port and you inject Shimano mineral oil into the circuit from the caliper which forces all of the old oil and air to the top and collects in the funnel. Easy peezy. Once you're done, place the toothpick looking thing, O-ring side down, into the bottom of the funnel. This is just a stopper for the funnel so you can unscrew it from the master cylinder and not spill the mineral oil everywhere.A couple things to consider when you're bleeding your brakes:-Use the correct hydraulic fluid- for shimano, use Shimano Mineral Oil-Don't get the mineral oil onto your brake pads or rotors, you will have to replace your pads. If it gets on anything else, just wipe it off with some rubbing alcoholHope this helps someone trying to figure out how to make their brakes work again. Save some money and do it yourself, it's easy.

Perfect.
This worked exactly as expected and made bleeding my brakes easy. I did a gravity bleed, so all I needed was this funnel and a small hose on the bottom with a ziplock tied onto it. I didn’t have any 1/4” hose and I didn’t want to go to the store, so I went through my garage and found that drip line tubing, the small stuff you use to water bushes or gardens, worked great.Make sure you pull your brake pads and put in a bleed block, or even a wood door shim, plier handles, anything to keep the pistons locked in and the brakes away from the mineral oil. If they get mineral oil on them you will need new brakes. This is a oem funnel.

Good for about 15 uses
My average rides are 1.5hrs long, 2-3 times a week with a 3-4 hour extended climbing and super D session on a the weekends. I'm not a heavy breaker but the brakes do get a lot of use. Therefore, I bleed my brakes every quarter or whenever there's air in the system. This funnel is essential in reducing the amount of time it takes to bleed the brakes. I can bleed both brakes in less than 15 minutes, which is a savings of $25-30 if you take it to the bike shop. My only complaint is the soft plastic and rubber o-ring where it inserts into the brake cylinder. After 20 or so uses the plastic starts to wear away so the seal is not as good. Ultimately air can be sucked back into the system when the levers are squeezed (last step) to remove air in the cylinders.I will still buy again despite this. 1 star docked for the lack of longevity - I want my tools to last for a while.

Works perfectly on Hayes Prime brakes!!!
I'm super excited about this item. I have Hayes Prime Pro brakes and bled them with the double siringe Hayes kit but couldn't get them working firm. I watched a YouTube video of a guy using this item to easily get air out of his Shimano brakes. This thing screws on to the bleed fitting at the master cylinder. The Shimano bleed screw appeared to look the same as the Hayes Prime Pro I have so I took a chance it would screw right on. Well, hot diggitty dog, this screwed right in perfectly. I screwed it on, added some fluid and went at it with pulling the lever and flicking it until all the air was burped from the system. It took all of 5 minutes and now have firm lever pull and perfect modulation. This made me crazy happy that it actually worked. Great product and way easy to use. This is a must have.

Followed the youtube videos and works like a charm
Essential tool for adding hydraulic fluid for Shimano hydraulic brakes. Followed the youtube videos and works like a charm. If you haven't changed hydraulic brake fluid or filled it up, it is very messy and oily. I recommend using nitrile gloves before proceeding, along with a workspace that can get oil. This funnel essentially reduced the amount of clean up needed as well as bike parts that would have gotten dirty!Pros: Cost effective tool to make hydraulic maintenance with fluid easierCons: Still slightly messy so wear gloves!

Makes brake bleeding pretty easy, even for a novice
rather than spend some $$ to have a bike shop bleed my brake lines I decided to buy this inexpensive tool and try it myself. I already had some tubing and syringes, but thought this would make it easier. It worked great and came with detailed instructions. Got the brakes back to original stiffness on the first try!

Works perfectly, no mess, no waste.
This was my first time working with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. I used the funnel (and followed directions!) and have them working nicely. No mess, no waste, no oil on rotors...this funnel did its job perfectly!
