Great book for difficult toddlers
This book has been a great experience for my son and I. Reading it to him has helped him realize that throwing a mad rage at us when he didn't get what he wanted was not nice and that we had our best at heart... it has helped us a lot

A firm toddler favourite
I bought this for my 1-and-a-half-year-old when she started developing a temper, as I thought it might teach her what she was feeling. Now she's been requesting I read it regularly for the past few months, I'm still not sure if it's created that awareness (she's still really learning to communicate in general) but she certainly loves it! I use an angry voice when the character says "I was so mad!", which she finds hilarious. Out of her big shelf of books at home, there's only a rare few she enjoys over and over again, and this is one of them.

Beware: Little Critter Runs Away
I wish I had read the review of 'jsdmcs' before buying this, as I completely agree with it. We love Mercer Mayer books (I grew up on them myself!), but I wasn't too fond of the plot of this including Little Critter's attempt to run away. It wasn't something my toddler had ever thought of, and I didn't particularly want a book to give her the idea! Unfortunately, I read the words as they were written instead of thinking quickly enough to make up an alternative plot. I'm going to stick it in the closet now and hope she doesn't remember that we have it! :-/

I Was So Mad
I got this for my 2 yr old as a way of teaching him about emotions (he gets mad alot out of frustration!). I really like the Little Critter series of books, and this one would've got 5 stars like the others had it not been for the bit in the book about running away! Basically Little Critter is so mad he is never allowed to do what he wants that he decides to run away (not a concept I want my son to think about!). I've changed the story - he goes and sulks instead! Really cute pictures as always.
