Another Great Rothco Item - Dimensions
I'm using this as a hatchet sheath - as an ax sheath it would be fine too unless you wear it for anytime on the belt. Inside measurement is 3 inches by 5.5 inches maybe just a tad more but not by much. Item is as pictured. I would say it is borderline heavyweight canvas but it seems like it will do the job. Not going to wear mine around on my belt it seems it may not hold up indefinitely if worn that way but who wants a hatchet bouncing around on their side but it could be worn periodically this way with no problem. The Belt Loop on the back is 2 inches of inside measurement - will accommodate a 2 inch belt and it is 2 inches wide. The belt loop has a metal type Alice clip type metal thing that you could use on an Alice Belt. It is not an Alice Clip but is a metal thing. To remove this metal clip thing keep twisting it around and out of it make sure you don't rip off the belt loop. I had to resew a corner of the belt loop :). This clip thing is like a super strong piece of coat hanger wire in a sort of U shape stuck through the top of the belt loop. So the top of the belt loop is folded over and sewn providing a hole through the top of the loop - A pencil would fit snuggly through it. Might be good for paracord to tie the hatchet off the ground. Outside dimensions 5 by 6.5. Snap is sturdy rivets are sturdy. The hole for the hatchet handle is 2.75 inches. Just Buy It. The Belt loop IS heavy canvas whereas the rest of the item is a thinner canvas material but plenty adequate in my opinion. Very happy with the purchase and it came with free super saver shipping.

It fit my "Magellan Outdoors 20oz" hatchet very well with room to spare. My ax's dimensions are 5 3/8" at its widest from cutting edge to back edge; 3 3/8" from the cutting edge's top to bottom; and 2 1/8" top to bottom of the back edge. The ax head's is 7/8" at its thickest point. The handle at its widest point is 1 13/16" and 1" thick. The inside dimensions of the sheath is: 6 1/8" wide, 3 7/16" deep at the cutting edge, and about 1 1/4" thick. The handle hole is 2" wide. These sheath dimensions are on the liberal side, so if your ax is larger, then the sheath will be too small.I gave 5 stars because it will do its job and its only $6. I ordered it on a Friday evening and the USPS delivered it on Sunday morning; I couldn't believe it. I plan to carry my ax one or two times a year so sheath cut through is not that likely. If I were planning to carry and use it everyday, I would get a tougher, leather sheath.

Fits Master Force Hatchet
After reading through the reviews it's obvious that this sheath is not made of the most premium of materials. That being said it was better than I expected and at a fair cost for what I was expecting. It should be better branded through as it only fits small to medium sized hatchets. My Menards brand hatchet fits perfectly.

Protects the blade...no accidental cuts at family reunions.
Quality canvas. Measured the hatchet before buying.

Not a custom fit but does the job just fine.
This is a basic product so there isn't much to review. It isn't a custom sheath, but for a cheap replacement it is adequate and gets the job done. When received, it had been a bit "over sewn" on the bottom and I had to snip a few stitches to make it fit correctly, but it wasn't difficult and there are rivets that will prevent it from unraveling much beyond the point where I had to make a few snips.

It gets the job done!
Got this for my camping hatchet that I use for the wood that goes into my fire pit and fire place. It helps to make kindling and to cut through small branches. The cloth canvas covering is enough to keep the head of the hatchet covered and easily attached to your belt.Withdrawing my hatchet takes a little work because of the carbon handle design but take a smooth wooden handle and it works just fine.Quality wise, it takes a toll and quite a beating out in the woods while on horseback and hiking.I’m pretty impressed with it

Do not buy, weak, not protective, doesn't fit anything well.
Very thin and weak canvas. Not worth the money. This will be sliced open the first time you use this on a properly sharpened axe. Axes are supposed to be sharp, not dull. This will not protect the edge or you from that edge. You're better off carrying a large roll of masking tape and taping the edge everytime you use it than this.

Thicker canvas...
Much thicker than the last one I bought and I'm able to attach to my garrison military belt with ease..
