This book gave me good information!
I enjoy riding horses & go on cattle drives in Montana & Wyoming. We round up 800 to 1,000 head of cattle over 10 to 15 days. Riding 6 to 20 hours in the saddle each day. I find this a fun & rewarding vacation. This book helped me learn more about horses & horse care. Very enlightening & well presented.I’d recommend this product. Jess

All need now is the horse . . .
This is one of my favorite kind of reference books, short descriptions with beautiful photographs. This book is easy to reference, you can skip around to find information on whatever issue you might be having with your horse, or you can read the whole book in anticipation of buying your first horse which is the case for me when I bought this book for our daughter.Personally, I need someone to show me things in order to understand them, and that's what this book does beautifully. As you can tell just from the cover, the pictures make all the difference. I also love to look at pictures of horses anyway, and this book has some beauties. When they say complete, this book is complete. If you're new to horses this is a great book to buy. It's a big sturdy book that can withstand the many times you'll use for reference. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Good basic reference book
Lots of good information, mainly designed for the beginner, but I think it would also be a good basic reference guide for many horse persons. The one thing I really didn't like was the author's statement in the beginning of the book that horses aren't very intelligent. I don't think she meant it the way it comes off, but true horse lovers will likely find this comment offensive. I bought this as a gift and don't own horses myself, and found that statement affected my feelings about the credibility of the rest of the author's statements in the book. If you can look past that comment, I think you'll find this a useful book to have for reference for the care of your horse.

Comprehensive, Fun Book -- I learned a ton!
I'm obsessed with horses and have a long-time goal to continue horsemanship lessons and eventually get a horse of my own. In that effort, I've been doing a lot of learning and reading to fully understand and prepare for the responsibility. This book has an excellent breakdown of horse behavior, biology, basic veterinary care, and tack. I love the pictures and am happy to continually re-read sections, use it as a reference for certain scenarios, and have this on my coffee table for people to peruse. :)

Amazing book!
This book isn't a small book, it's a good size book that has a lot of information and good pictures in it. It talks about loading and unloading a horse in a trailer, feed and water, tacking up, cleaning tack, daily routines for stalled or pastured horses, keeping your horse happy, it talks a little about blankets, and the pictures are good sized and nice to look at (also their in color). This book shows steps for doing things and also talks about sweat on horses after working them and taking care of that in a little bit of detail. I learned a lot from this book and I just glanced at it. It also goes into detail about cleaning a horse for a show and braiding and just overall care. It's a great book and I'm really glad I bought it now instead of waiting for Christmas.
