Wow, this stuff works great!
I've had many cold sores, but this is the first time I've heard of a patch for it. I currently have the Mother of All Cold Sores and it sucks. These Mederma patches are helping a ton, though. From what I can tell, there's no actual medication to it, it's just a cover, so my expectations were low. My first patch stayed on 36 hours before I removed it myself. It pulled off a bunch of the gunky mush when it came off, which helped make my sore cleaner. TROUBLE STICKING? TRY THIS: I imagine the wet goo is what keeps these from sticking for some people. When I removed my first patch, I washed my sore with a touch of soap (uncomfortable because touching the sore stings), then rinsing well and drying by patting with a dry paper towel. The patch can stick to the plastic holder rather than your lip if you try to apply it quickly. I learned that the first time. The second time, I pressed the patch gently to my skin and held it there, pressing firmly for 10-15 seconds before peeling the plastic applicator away. The patch stuck to my skin beautifully. Normally, my tongue cannot stay away from my sore because they tingle and hurt. This patch stops the tingling/hurting. Every few hours, I'll feel a much milder, non-painful tingling that lasts a few seconds, then goes away. The rest of the time, when it would hurt non-stop, there is no pain. I think the raw, open nerve endings is what is causing pain, so covering them up fixes it. I'm super grateful to have these patches. Their ability to conceal the grossness is not fantastic, but it's better than having it out there for the world to see. (I don't use makeup most days, so maybe makeup would help.) It's worth wearing for the pain-reduction alone.

My favorite for cold sores
These cold sore patches are my favorite for getting rid of cold sores. I don't even mess with the creams anymore because these patches work better than anything I've tried. I love that they're clear and easy to put on and they work great. I can notice that they start working within a few hours. I replace mine a couple times a day usually after eating or drinking so that I have a fresh patch on at all times. My boyfriend and my daughter both like using these as well because they work so great. I would definitely recommend these if you suffer from cold sores and want some quick relief that's not too noticeable. You can wear these out in public and no one can really tell because they are clear and cover your cold sore. This is a much better alternative than putting white cream on your cold sore!

So grateful I found this product!
I never leave reviews, but I had to this time. This product works like magic. I noticed a bump on my lip upon waking up on a Sunday. I always have antiviral meds so that I can take them when I see a cold sore coming out. The pills do help a lot, but once there's a bump, even if it's very small, it unfortunately keeps "sprouting". So I normally combine the antiviral pills with ointments, but I have to endure at least 7 days with an ugly sore on my lip. I bought these patches on Sunday and got them the next morning, Monday. I applied one before going to work. I loved how it concealed the sore so well, and the fact that you can apply make-up/lipstick on top of the patch, making the sore pretty unoticeable. The patch stayed in place while I used it, and even after drinking water, eating snacks, although I changed it after lunch. By Tuesday, the improvement was remarkable, the sore was still there, but very small. By Wednesday, it was almost gone, so tiny you couldn't tell it was a cold sore. Having to deal with this ugly virus is very annoying and embarrasing. In my case, I started having outbreaks 4 years ago, unfortunately after being vaccinated during the pandemic. I'm not saying the vaccine gave me the virus, since I knew I had this virus since I was in my 20s. However, I NEVER had an outbreak before, until I got vaccinated. I mentioned this because it's being a nightmare trying to understand how this virus behaves, what triggers it, how to keep it under control, what foods to avoid, and trying to conceal the sore without success. So having found this product is a blessing and I recommend it 100%.

Isn’t a cure but more of a great protection for cold sores!
This product isn’t a cure but more of a protection for cold sores. I put it on for around 3 hours because I had to go out and didn’t want it to be noticeable and it did great! It stayed on perfectly and i put lipstick over it. I felt much more confident going out knowing it was covered and protected. I got home and when I took it off i noticed it had sucked out some of the moisture from the sore because it was in a pus stage and changed it out for another one and went out for 6 hours and ate and it didn’t budge until i had an icy dessert and then it slid right off. This is a hydro patch so it will absorb moisture like the acne patches you see around. After 6 hours on the skin around the sore looked moist and almost like the sore had spread but that wasn’t the case, after 2 hours of the patch being off the skin around the sore went to normal. I also use abreva most of the time so maybe that is another reason why the sore didn’t spread under the patch. I would recommend only wearing the patch for up to 4 hours and taking 2 hour break in between patches and make sure not to get too much liquid on it as the skin under the patch will be trapped with moisture possibly causing it to spread. Overall I do recommend for when you have to go out and want to cover it up, happy this patch made be feel confident to go outside!
