Tough on the outside but cushioned on the inside, the New Balance 577 fitness walker is versatile and durable.

Awesome Shoes!
I love love love these shoes! I have purchased in the past from JCPenney. I wore them everyday and they lasted for years. I needed a new pair but have not been able to find them anywhere. So happy to have finally found them on Amazon!! They are all leather upper and are very good quality shoes. The toe box area is very roomy and the shoe itself is quite comfortable. I definitely recommend these shoes to anyone seeking a pair of good quality, comfortable walking shoes.

Comfortable Toe Box
Great shoe! I have a wide foot. The toe box is wider and very comfortable. Good support. These shoes arrived a day before my trip to Yellowstone. I walked miles & miles on a 10 day trip and my feet were great! No discomfort. No blisters. Highly recommend for wide feet.

Comfortable Toe Box is the NB 577
Do not believe other reviews that say NB608 shoe trimmed in blue has a wide toe box. You can clearly see in the photos it does Not. The 577 sold white NB has the wider toe box. I will be returning the NB 608.

Great shoes for feet & low back pain
I love these. Im a 9.5 wide they fit great. Im a massage therapist so im on my feet all day. I have mortons neuroma which flares up when wearing wrong shoe. My ankle slightly pronates, but because im on my feet so much my body tries to correct that by leaning on the outer part of my foot. So it looks like i supinate but im just compensating. Creating issues woth my hips too. Ive tried hokas & sketchers among many others, they dont work for me. They are great at first, but once broken in my low back/feet starts to hurt. I do not like foam based shoes at all. I understand the approach, but they dont work for everyone. For some of us, foam actually makes our problems worse because theirs no real support. The foam is just absorbing the shock when we walk. The sole of my shoes have to be made of rubber and you cannot bend them in half. They have to create structure and support. They have to have a wide toe box so my toes arent smooshed together creating more problems. I only trust certain types of new balance shoes. Be careful new balance also creates foam based shoes, if you dont want the foam either.

In what world are these "extra wide"?
Let me start by saying the shoes are comfortable enough. If you are used to wearing standard sneakers and have normal sized feet, you'll probably think these are great. The sole is comfortable (at least so far) and the toe box is roomier than average. For me personally, they're a little snug. I wore "barefoot" shoes for about a year. And while the cushion-less soles eventually wreaked havoc on my knees and sciatica, I got accustomed to being able to spread my toes out when I walked. As a result, regular sneakers cause me no end of troubles with my toes, including rubbing my pinky toe raw because it can no longer handle rubbing up against the interior of the shoe all day. I've gone through a number of brands, including comfort heavyweights like Skechers and Dr. Scholl's, to no avail.I ordered these in extra wide, thinking for sure that would provide me enough room in the toe box to mitigate the rubbing. If these are "extra wide" I'd hate to see what the narrow looks like! These fit more in line with what I'd expect from a normal wide in other brands. They're extremely tight on the tops of my feet and despite having a roomier toe box than other brands still squeeze my toes more than I would like.I'm hoping they just need to be broken in. They still fit slightly better than others I've tried, and the toe box is definitely better than other brands which come to more of a point. I also appreciate that the upper portion of the shoe being 100% leather which will hopefully soften with time so they don't feel as constricting. If there's any change in fit after wearing them for a while, I will edit my review accordingly.

These walking shoes have a great arch support with stability while walking. I usually wear white and stick with same brand

Well Made Shoe but Not for My Narrow Feet
This is a well-made shoe and would be comfortable for those who find wide widths still a bit too snug and whose feet swell or need to wear thick orthotics because the shoe does run much wider and deeper in the toe box. I have a AA narrow foot with AAA narrow heel and found the 2A to still be much wider than feasible considering the leather will soften with wear. The 2A is presumably the standard narrow for a 1A foot or so I was told. It doesn't make sense to me since numerically assigning it as a 1A (standard narrow) seems more logical and less confusing.Several reviews indicated people should order up 1/2 size. New Balance also recommends doing so on their website. I did and found it to be too long by 1/2 size! I have now ordered 4 pair of NB shoes and found my regular size (8) to fit perfecting in length and much better in their 2A width than these and I don't think had I ordered these in an 8 that they would have been a good shoe for me in the long run. They really do seem to run wider - and deeper - in the toe box than the other 3 styles I ordered. The other thing I would note is that you buy a different insole as there is no cushioning in these to speak of and no arch support. I highly recommend Dr. Scholl's Running Shoe insoles. Cut to size of the NB insole these work really well in their shoes and offer both the heel and instep cup like support just like the New Balance insoles and they are really comfortable. They also work well in the original Chuck Taylor B-ball shoes. Even though I'm a female, I love my Chucks best of all.As a suppinator (rolling to the outside of my foot versus pronation, rolling to the inside of the foot), I found both the WW928WT - my favorite - and the WW411WT2 - my second favorite - the best for suppinators. both these styles offer the roll bar and both have ample toe box room both in width and depth without being extreme. the 928 is a health walker and the 411 is a comfort walker with a very cushy insole, and both have really felt comfortable from the first time I put them on with no real break-in time. So take a look at that those if you're rolling outwards on your feet.If you're a pronator, I recommend taking a look at NB WW813WT. these also have a roll bar BUT it is a different type of roll bar that runs front to back - on the inside of the foot - where pronators likely would likely most need this. But note: They are also the only style of the 4 I purchased that ran small and whose toe box was more shallow (less deep) as well. So do order up a 1/2 size in that shoe and perhaps 1 width wider for any orthotics you wear. It's well made but NB appears to have streamlined the toe box much more in that style, I guess for a sleeker look. Who knows really. The 577's were made in the US. The other 3 styles were made in Vietnam. All were well made and I observed no shoddy workmanship between any 4 pairs purchased.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!0
