Will toners dry out if you don't print all that often?

No. This cartridge is a dry toner laser cartridge. These cartridges can be affected by high humidity, however. This machine uses a separate drum and toner cartridge. While the toner cartridge does not have an actual shelf life, the drum cartridge does have a shelf life. Over time the drums photoconductive properties diminish and drum wiper blades stop working correctly (faint, light prints and streaking prints). Three or four years is an average shelf life for a drum cartridge. If you don't make many prints per month it's probably a good idea to buy a machine like this with a separate drum and toner cartridge. You'll notice that in this machine, the drum cartridge has an estimated yield of 23,000 prints and costs a little over $100 on Amazon. This really is a great step up from an inkjet machine, although this is black and white (monochrome). If you scan to pdf files, Canon has the best scanner software interface in the business. I've pretty much used them all...

Does this toner work in the canon mf451dw?

The MF451 uses our 057 toner cartridges. This toner cartridge will not work with your printer.
