I love this hat, but it was quite a bit of work to get to this point. I bought it for use in my sauna and for $15 I didn't expect super high quality or soft merino wool! Out of the box it fit me really well (I have a large head, so it might not fit some one very well with a small head), but I noticed immediately that it was very itchy! So I decided to wash it (no instructions came with it). Pretty obvious that it needs to be hand washed in cold water and I used Woolite soap. The water was a dark brown, meaning that the wool was not washed very well prior to manufacturing. After it air dried, it was still just as itchy, so I looked online for ideas. Found several articles that suggested: soak in cold water with some vinegar, then drain and rub in hair conditioner generously and let sit for half an hour. Rinse thoroughly, let air dry, then put in zip lock bag and place in freezer overnight. I did all of this and it worked! 90% less itchy, and clean.

I use it for my Sauna to keep heat from my head and it prevents hair from over drying. Outstanding.
