I recently relocated with my two 13 years old dogs. I was worried that since they can no longer jump in and out of even a low profile vehicle on their own during the 1,000+ mile drive would be too much for them. This ramp was literally a lifesaver.Pros: Even though I have limited mobility, the ramp was light enough for me to fold, unfold and position quickly at each trip stop. The ramp was also sturdy enough for my 40 pound boys to get in and out without the ramp wobbling. The slip resistant tread was another plus, as was the ease of hosing the ramp down when my beagle had some car sickness issues.Since neither dog had ever used a ramp before I did make sure to let each dog get familiar with it during the weeks before the move. I started out by opening it, laying it down almost flat on the ground and individually walking my dogs on leash up the length of it so they could get use to the feel of the slip-resistant ramp surface. During the next few days I gradually raised the ramp to the height of the passenger van’s sliding door. With some coaxing and treat incentives they handled using the ramp like absolute champs.Cons: I really can’t think of any negatives with this purchase. I will note that because my dogs are elderly, and because I feared an accidental fall, I kept a close eye on their paw positions. Either my travel companion or I held the leash taunt during each trip up and down the ramp to make sure they neither dog accidently stepped off the side over the protective guardrails.Overall the ramp made a very stressful move much easier on both of the humans and on both of the dogs involved. I’m sure we’ll continue to use this ramp as we explore our new state and get settled into our new home.

It was fairly easy to operate, a little heavy; but I bought this not for a dog, but to be able to slide my mother’s wheelchair into my SUV so I could pick her up at the nursing home and take her places with me more easily. I’m pretty sure it would have worked, but sadly she passed away before I could try it.

The media could not be loaded. UPDATED REVIEW (April 2025):Today I noticed that the adhesive tread on the ramp is coming up and is crumpled. Not sure how I didn’t notice it before but it totally explains why our remaining senior dog started to refusing to use it. Something in his way or that feels funny under his paws really throws him off more than ever.I was so bummed and disappointed to see that the tread was coming off. I LOVED the ramp (obviously by my previous 5-star review below) and thought it was such great quality. The ramp was not cheap and it was just about a year old.Initially I came in to update my review and then realized I hadn’t tried to contact the company. As much as I didn’t want to take the time to find them and contact them, I felt it was the right thing to do. As a business owner myself I would want to know if a customer had a quality issue with my product and give me a chance to fix any issue. Before I pursued the company’s Customer Service I looked a the Product Description again and realized maybe people don’t keep the product outside for deck steps like we do and maybe keep it folded in a vehicle a is not exposed to weather. However in the Product Description I also didn’t find a “This is designed to be stored inside and not intended for outdoor use” sort of warning. So the outdoors issue just never entered my mind. There are photos of outside use and it even talks about the ramp allowing you to enjoy the outdoors more with your pet. So I kind of feel like it wasn’t unreasonable to think the ramp would be okay outside.Anyhoo…I took the time to contact PetSafe. It took me a minute to get through the phone tree and when I finally got to the proper product category they had a message citing “unusually high call volume” and the wait may be extended so please go check out their Support page to see if the answer is there” that drives me nuts. I think it’s really just a way for companies to send you down the inane rabbit hole of trying to find an answer on your own so they don’t have to pay Customer Service people and they can be more profitable.Sure enough…30 seconds later an actual HUMAN answered the line! So good job there, PetSafe. And she was lovely. Very kind and personable.These days when a company has human Customer Service it’s often a good sign that they stand behind their products and want happy customers. I had a wonderful conversation with the rep about our doggos and that I had left a glowing review for the product and was so disappointed that it was coming apart. I shared with her that the ramp was used outside on our deck steps. I mentioned that I didn’t need the whole ramp replaced because that old be wasteful and asked if there was any way they could send out a new tread (it’s like a sticker).We were on the phone for a good 10-15 minutes and I assumed she was getting a replacement set up as we chatted. It sounded like she was searching for the right type for my product as she asked which ramp, my dog’s names, etc.She finally found replacement tread but said it was not going to be the right size and I’d have to cut it (no problem). And…it was going to be $30.After paying $75 for the ramp I was not going to pay another $30 on a year-old product. I was nice about it as she’d been so nice and she’s just the messenger but REALLY disappointed. Not only that they weren’t going to send the tread out but also that I had just spent valuable time, giving the company he benefit of the doubt by taking time to reach out before just jumping to edit/downgrade my review. And the rep had been soooo chatty…I wish that she would have said right away yes, but we have to charge for them.I got off the call and did a search on amazon for weatherproof stair tread and found ton of options well under $30. I purchased a roll of weatherproof tread tape for $8.99 with free (Prime) shipping shipping.I wanted to give others the heads up in case you’re planning on using the ramp outside.To PetSafe…it would be better to make it super clear that this ramp is NOT for outdoor use or at the very least have some replacement adhesive tread that you can send out or have REASONABLY PRICED replacement tread that you recommend if use will be outdoor.ORIGINAL REVIEW (June 2024):This ramp is just awesome. I have three little doggos, two of them seniors. My little black and white rescue was really suffering with her knees and hips. This has been a total game changer!We followed the directions on the box and when we first got it, we unfolded it and put it flat on our kitchen floor. We used training treats to coax them to walk on the ramp. They picked it up right away - they will do anything for a treat! At first when we tried to get them to go across it without treats they weren’t really having it. They kept following me from one end to the other AROUND the ramp because they knew I had treats in my hand. It was actually pretty funny but I was a little concerned that they weren’t going to “get it” without a treat. We stuck with it, using smaller and smaller bits of treats since we practiced so much. They got it figured out in about half an hour.So then we brought the ramp out to our patio steps for the big test! The textured surface on the ramp prevents slips and makes it easier for the dogs to get up and down.The ramp was super easy to unfold and put on our patio stairs. It’s lightweight but sturdy. Our senior doggos are only 8/10 lbs but the ramp definitely seems sturdy enough for bigger dogs. We did about 5 ups and downs with treats - they did great!The next day I was wondering if they would remember to use it and sure enough, my little black and white doggo with the bad knee and hip went right to the ramp to go down to the yard to do her business, and came right back up the ramp…no treats needed!The freedom this ramp gives to the doggos and the time it has saved me are both huge. I was having to carry my little black and white girl out to the yard, wait for her to do her business and bring her back inside each time. It was time consuming and really cold on early winter mornings!I highly recommend the ramp. It’s well-built, versatile in that it’s easily folded to bring in a car, holds up in super cold and snowy winters and a great value.

☆Please note that I added strips of reflective tape on all sides since we frequently use it in the dark. They look like white stripes in the pics. The ramp itself is black. "High Intensity Reflective Tape White and Silver 0.5"X15' - Waterproof". I used Gorilla Glue after the first strips fell off. Holding well now.After reading a lot of reviews, I decided on this ramp. I was looking for a lightweight folding ramp for my 2017 Toyota Highlander (mid size SUV) & my 65# Boxer. We drive daily to walk in parks so I needed a lightweight ramp that stored easily. This is perfect. It even fits inside the 36" dog crate, great for storing when my dog isn't with me. It has a red plastic piece, shown in my pic, which keeps it closed. You simply pull 1 end of the red tab to open & push it back in the hole to keep it closed. There are 4 thick rubber feet, see pics, that keep the ramp from slipping.There is a sandpaper like grip. Originally, I pulled it off, peeled easily off in 1 piece with no residue, because I read others did it out of concern for their paw pads. I stuck Home Depot Indoor/Outdoor carpet on it, but my dog couldn't grip it & slid going up & down. I ended up buying another ramp because I needed it quickly & kept it as is. His paw pads are fine.I like the sides of the ramp come up a few inches, helped give my dog confidence. He is 4yrs, but he has joint issues & the jump is difficult for him. I want to limit his jumping. He had never used a ramp, so we practiced inside with it flat on the floor, giving lavish praise & yummy treats. Then set it on 3 carpeted stairs inside, then in the SUV. I used the command "ramp" which has been helpful. He learned quickly & uses it readily.One note, this can get steep if we are on a slope. So then I have to him up with the harness so je doesn't slip.
