Hi It sends notification to you mobile, as long as you have good internet conenction. I was in holiday area with very bad signal and I didn't get it. When I back home and start to walk in front of camera to switch it off I received them. Probably you can set up also email notification.

How does sound detection work? Is it pre set for certain noises or can I get a notification when my dog barks or cries?

You will be sent a notification on any type of sound that your camera picks up, whether that be a dog barking, a cat meowing, music or a car driving past the camera.
