Have a leather backpack from this brand, Rustic Town, and it was amazing! The leather was soft and supple so I wanted to support the brand and pick up a messenger bag. This bag is very nice looking, the color is fantastic, the size is great, and the design is well thought out with one exception - the small front pocket is inaccessible with the larger flap buckled close. The build quality and leather quality though, keeps me from loving this bag - which is a shame, especially for the price. The stitching was questionable when I received it brand new - thought it was just extra untrimmed thread, but it continues to fray and in additional locations. I understand that leather scratches, but the scratches on the back of the case came from using putting it on and removing it from a travel case - exactly what it was designed to be used with! Those scratches all came from just one trip. The buckles crease very badly, just waiting for it to crack and peel. The leather - which is the reason I purchased this - is not soft at all. It is very thick and robust, in fact the bag stands on it's own empty - doesn't need anything to give it body. It is not soft and supple and buttery as I had hoped - which were my descriptors of the leather backpack from this brand that I loved. Bummed, wanted to love this messenger bag.***UPDATED***RUSTIC TOWN sent a replacement bag and it is night and day difference in build quality! There isn't a seam or thread out of place and it's worn in very nicely, new pics attached for comparison - even received a compliment when carrying the replacement! Good on you RUSTIC TOWN for going out of your way to ensure customer satisfaction, cheers!

Husband was very excited to receive this as a gift. He's been looking at bags and they've been $250 - $600. Didn't want to spend that kind of money.He's very impressed with the look, and feel of the leather. Has room for his computer extra monitor.Great quality and a great price!! Highly recommend this bag!

They didn’t skimp on any aspect of creating this bag from the buckles to zipper and the pockets.3. Stylish and the perfect size for a commuter, student, or business person.

This is my work bag and it is the hardest worker in the room. I basically carry my office with me and I have two bags that I use. This bag Carrie’s my laptop and iPad and smaller things and then I have a roll bag to lug my papers about. This messenger bag gives me enough room for essentials. It’s a beautiful bag. The only thing I would say that is like better is if the leather were treated to protect it from rain. I got caught in a downpour and it left spots on the bag because I couldn’t get it dried right away. After that, I got some soft shoe wax and put it as protection and it got the worst of the damage to fade. Now it just looks like a rugged, well used bag. I took closer pictures of the water damage so you can see how rain affects the leather. Do yourself a favor. Protect your bag before you get caught in the rain. Personally I don’t mind it. I think it adds character to my bag.

I like the bag. it's rustic yet attractive, and has good features. really stinks like a new leather bag and has taken a long time for smell to dissipate. built well and had some abrasions from the beginning. fine by me because I'd only add more but others noticed and commented. good value I'd say.

I ordered this messenger bag briefcase on a whim. I was excited to find something affordable that was actually made of leather.It was great to find an actual buffalo leather bag a world full of “vegan leather” (which is just plastic… vegan leather is pleather!).Now… I need to be upfront that I know leather pretty well. As an equestrian professional and stables owner that rides both English and Western I am very familiar with the varying quality of bridle leather, English saddle leather, western saddle leather, various types of boot leather, etc…I would describe the leather on this bag as a reasonably thick decent quality western saddle leather. It has a decent thickness and solidness to it and will take years of abuse without problem. I have not oiled it yet but I think it would take oil well and become even more supple and more improved.It’s not as fine or supple as bridle or boot leather, nor does it have an elegant edging to it. But bags of this quality are usually well over $200 and this bag was a mere $90.The brass hardware, especially the shoulder strap snaps, were really nice quality. The zippers are heavy duty.It fit my MacBook Pro in the computer pocket perfectly.

The bag is beautiful. The only thing I didn’t like is it was so dry that it looked like it was gonna crack, but I put oil on it and it’s gorgeous.

My husband is using this bag for work and he is more than happy with it. It's pretty much the best massager bag we've ever had. Sturdy, easy to care for, well arranged storage spaces and still no issues after close to two years of daily use.
