There are no lines at all. is this defective? or am i using it incorrectly? i dipped it in for 5 seconds and laid it flat. zero lines. please advise.

My problem is that only the control to is showing no test line at all does that mean both tests two different mornings are defective? Or I tested to soon after period? I put in to line wait until it went up the line them set a timer for 5 mins.
