Take it from a professional
I'm a licensed Full Specialist, so I'm trained in skin care. Dermalogica is one of the best professional skin care lines on the market. I knew exactly what to buy when my preteen started showing acne on his face.Although he said the acne wasn't painful, it certainly looked painful. Red and angry. Clustered on his forehead and chin area. I immediately purchased this kit. Overnight the product pulled about 75-85% of the redness out of his acne. His skin looked so much better after just one application. I know we'll continue to use this product line. This line up is perfect for boys and young men. It scent is "clean" without being feminine. It's a 3 step method; cleanse, medicate, moisturize. Easy peasy. Quick. Even your most reluctant boys will comply. And the best part? It actually works.

It’s a REALLY small starter kit
Look before I start and say anything about the actual clear start kit I’m gonna say how tiny it is. Sorry but I have baby hands and this was mind blowingly itty bitty. I felt like the hulk holding these. When they say it’s travel sized it is an understatement, maybe American girl doll sized. Im lazy and I always get the kits for whatever acne / face cleaner im using because I find it convenient. Yes the bottles are usually smaller compared to purchasing them individually but the kits are ‘normally’ a 30 day supply - at least. I mean what can I say, I’m a victim of consumerism; when it says it’s a great value, you get three things and it’s a one click next day delivery AND you don’t have to buy 20 other things, it makes me weak in the knees. But THIS, thisssssss, this right here, shot me down so hard when I opened it with how tiny the products were. Don’t get me wrong I might be using things wrong in general because I measure with my heart, but if I’m being real I’ll be lucky if it last maybe two weeks for the cleanser and a week for the booster and moisturizer. Normally I can get a full month out of a kit. Anyhow sorry I had to say it, I couldn’t help myself.NOW the products themself, I don’t know, it’s a little love hate relationship. Usually I order the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Dermatological Acne Treatment set, and it’s decent, it does the job but isn’t perfect in oily and dries my skin out but I’m still oily. It is what it is. So I decided to try this kit instead.First off the cleanser smells great, it definitely doesn’t foam but lathers well. I feel clean after using it, it’s not harsh, and it definitely helps combat the oiliness of my face. So far it’s good, I have a little purge happening but my skin would purge if I looked at the sky wrong. My face is an oil factory, I can wash my face breathe and blink once then BOOM produce enough to start my own oil mill. But this helps keep it under control for more than 6 hours. Now the booster I have no idea what it even is, it smells like a floral baby powder almost, and it’s hard to get out of the bottle. I have to use at least 4-5 drops because it absorbs fast. It kind of looks like the snail serum, milky and thin, but not sticky and definitely not drying. It’s smooth and easy to use when you can get it out of the bottle. And the smell from the booster fades fast. Now the gel moisturizer, I like it a lot. It spreads really easily, you don’t need a lot, it hydrates without leaving any residue, absorbs fast, and feels great BUT it smells like a hotel, like the mini soap and shampoo you get from a Marriott or a cheaper hotel, not cheap like motel but like a average Hilton. It’s not terrible if you like it but it’s strong and the smell doesn’t fade for a while. I’m not a fan of the sent at all. But I like the products so I just suck it up, tuck in my skirt and get over it. It is what it is.Over all the kit helps with oily skin for sure, you need to use all three and it helps to balance your natural oils. From what I’ve experienced at least. Acne wise I have no idea if it’s helping or not, I mean I have good face days and bad face days but I did get a little purging and one unhappy looking pimple above my eyebrow. Outside of that it makes me feel clean and helps make my skin look healthier compared to the over drying and peeling I get from the other kit I would normally use. Also I’m not sure if the full sized bottles list the ingredients, or tell you what they do but this literally doesn’t tell you anything. You’re going with nothing but what order to use them. Most cleansers list the active ingredients or what the product / benefits do but these leave you SOL. I like don’t really like not knowing what its purpose is, it the main ingredients because for all I know I could be rubbing puréed toilet paper with a hint of hotel on myself. You can look it up but it doesn’t really go super in depth like most beauty products. I don’t know that’s just me though. I’m going to finish this kit and I might order it again to see if it’s actually helping my acne and skin. But if I don’t think it’s helping after ordering again I’ll update this and probably order something else.
