Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The IDW Collection Volume 4 (TMNT IDW Collection)

My favourite arc is done justice!
This is possibly the part of this revamp I was most looking forward to and at the same time more worried about - because it covers the original series's arc where the defeated Turtles have to retreat to Northamption after the excellent retelling of "City Fall" in the last volume.BUT FIRST: The physical book itself follows the format of the preceding volumes and I maintain no complaints with the quality/finish/anything. Definitely one of the better crafted and not over-done Collected Editions I've come across. Very much worth having and I'm so glad I bought these and this one in particular. Now, the physical reviewed done with:Norhthampton's original story arc from the Eastman+Laird series is my favourite TMNT story arc of all time. It's amongst my top comic story arcs of all time, rich with emotion, pain and deeply touching despite it's not being all that long really. Maybe it was the timing of my reading it but I love it and was unsure what to expect when I noticed they were heading in that direction in the preceding arc - I've been enjoying the series but action-packed is easier to do than emotional.I need not have worried. Tom Waltz and Paul Allor's work on the main series is at some of its best in the last and this volumes main arc + the bonus Utrom Empire mini and the Annual are great at continuing to expand the universe nicely and setup what is to come next once the Turtles return to NY by adding weight to the Utroms presence and purpose.BUT the single biggest highlight? Sophie Campbells art... this comic and her contributions on this arc in particular have made me a complete and total geek-out fan of her and her work and specifically of her TMNT work. The love she clearly has for the franchise and the characters, the way she moves her tone and compositions with the emotions of pain and anger and little joys and wistfulness as she portrays the characters - it is genuinely touching.

The cover is good
Ignore the bad pictures they have here. The black bar isn’t across the book. Great read and beautiful artwork. Highly recommend this.

Another great story and now stakes are higher
Great great story, love the evolution if the turtles from issue to issue. Not just the turtles hut all the characters. So many things going on and wondering how it comes to a head and what they will do. Just great reading and art. Has only exceeded my expectations with every volume I read.

Another great story
Time and time again the stories in these series have proven to be the best. The character development and relations between each character is done amazingly. The art design just tops it all off.

still blowing me away each volume a joy
Whether it’s including further depth to the preset TMNT stage (comic or cartoon) IDW turtles consistently entertaining and enthralling. I never imagined the cartoons and characters they introduced to the series were so fitting all along! Amazing job worthy read highly recommended
