Nice book
My daughter had to read this book for summer reading and it turned out to be a pretty good book. It started a lot of conversations between her and I about way to handle certain situations moving forward into high school as well as, better habits to form.

Well Written and Practical
Sean Covey hits a home run with this book. The "habits" are practical, easy to understand and thought provoking. I'm planning to use the book, workbook and Covey's website as part of my homeschool curriculum for teaching health. Covey's book brings a fresh alternative to just teaching avoidance of negative behaviors (don't do drugs...). Instead, he presents positive habits that students (and adults for that matter) can use to help them be healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually. Hopefully, I'll be able to add positive outcomes of the semester to this review later.

Great product for parents to teach their teens!
I have purchased this for 2 of my teen daughters, I really love the format and the style. I have used it (unfortunately) as a teaching aid AFTER my teens have behaved in ways I didn't like, but it did help turn their attitudes around. I think this is a great resource for parents. There are really very few quality resources for parents with average teens and (unfortunately) average problems, that aren't religion based. This is perfect for the "ordinary" teen that rebels and wants to test the limits. I don't know how effective something like this would be for really troubled teens, but it seems that there are limited resources and support for parents that are trying their best to instill good values and morals in their teens, but have to fight against the media and "everyone else is doing it" syndromes. I highly recommend it!

Every Teen should read
I am teaching a homeschool co-op class with this and the workbook. (There are several different prints of the workbook, so be aware.) I read the original book years ago and have decided to read it again with my husband after teaching this class. Well worth it.

Probably ok - unfortunately my son lost it -
I liked my quick skim of it. I wish I had bought ONLY the workbook. I have nothing at all good to say about the companion book (see review). While that one won't be used, I do hope my son finds his workbook as it may be worthwhile. I took the Dad's 7 habits seminars as a professional years ago and still remember and try to practice many of the habits.

good for adults too
i know the book is meant to be for teenagers and young adults. however i am using it for a woman's group. not only does it read easier, it also talks about feelings and formation of an inner life. the women all have major depression, as do i. this book talks about small steps to have a better sense of self so that we all can work on our life more confidently. good for teenagers, but also good for adults!
