Product Description Staying active has been my key to aging successfully. Regular exercise not only burns calories, it also dramatically improves both body and brain functions. My Fit & Strong DVD includes two 25-minute workouts that will burn fat, tone and shape every major muscle group and strengthen your core. Make a habit of doing these workouts and you’ll look and feel your best. .com As Jane Fonda strides into her 70s, she is still focused on and committed to fitness. Her Fit & Strong workout is geared to older exercisers, or those who simply are starting out. There are two 25-minute workouts on this DVD, a Level 1 and a Level 2. Both can be done seated and standing, with light weights (which can be increased for a more challenging workout). These workouts get at nearly every muscle group, gently but thoroughly. There are also excellent stretches included and great tips on daily activities, posture, and the like. What is most endearing and touching about Fit & Strong is not necessarily the workouts--we expect Fonda to deliver and she does. But it's Fonda's supportive tone and discussions at the beginning of the workouts and throughout the movements that set Fit & Strong apart. Fonda is understanding about the disconnected feeling many people, especially older people, have about their bodies, and how feeling reconnected stimulates not just the body, but the mind and the soul. Fonda says it's OK to be wherever you are in your fitness level--and she takes it from there. It's as supportive an environment as any exerciser could possibly want, and it makes the routines go more quickly. Fonda has become the exerciser's true friend, and in Fit & Strong that becomes one of the best reasons to keep coming back to do the routines. Anyone of any fitness level can start Fit & Strong immediately and feel results--and that's a great gift, at any age. --A.T. Hurley

Gentle yet very effective workout for men and women.
My husband and I used to enjoy vigerous workouts; however, life has changed a bit and Jane's videos for "mature" people came recommended to us as a way to re-enter a regular workout regimine. Level one is mostly seated stretching (love these), resistance and hand-weight exercises focusing on staying strong, limber and balanced. As we got stronger, we moved to heavier hand weights for more of a challenge. In quick order, we could already feel stronger and could scoop up our granddaughter with ease and it has only gotten better. Advancing to level two, the exercises and stretches are from a standing position increasing the aerobic activity and getting ones heart rate up. More challenging balance and strengthening exercises are added as well. Here is where we have quickly noticed a boost in our weight loss efforts. We still really love the level one workout, and now include it from time to time as a way to stretch and wind down before bed. It's a nice gentle workout without being insulting to mature folks, like other videos can be. Jane is a pro and her presentation is polished and her directions are clear. This DVD is NOT directed to women only, which my husband appreciates. She addresses how each exercise helps us to be strong in preparation for aging issues. We've been enjoying this program for many months now, and have not gotten weary of it. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to "get moving" again, like us.

Effective workout for seniors
Great workout using light hand weights that is effective, yet not too hard for me to actually accomplish. I am so pleased with the results. I alternate this with 2 other Jane Fonda Prime Time workouts-- Trim, Tone & Flex and AM/PM Yoga. All include strength, flexibility and balance work, and help keep me functional for daily life. All are great and enjoyable to do.I rotate the Prime Time WOs with videos by Susie Hathaway and HASfit Senior. Each has a slightly different way of working the muscles, and each gives a full body WO that relieves stiffness and aches, and leaves me feeling better every time. A must as we grow older! Recommended.

Best if you're old or injured
I am 59 and usually do Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner workouts. Then I lifted something too heavy and injured my back. I wasn't able to workout for months and still shouldn't be doing much. So I Googled workout videos for old or injured people and found Jane Fonda's new series of "Prime Time" workouts. This one is my favorite of the three I bought. It is very good for what it is, but somebody younger and looking to get into shape won't get that from this workout series. If you're very overweight, it would definitely be a good start, though. There are 2 workouts on this DVD, an easier one (which is way easy) and a slightly higher level workout which is about as much as I can do at the moment and not too challenging. It's keeping me somewhat toned and flexible so that when I do fully recover the transition to regular workouts will be easier to handle. The length of the workouts is manageable (20-25 minutes) and she addresses all the root problems and issues older people experience. Her teaching method is fun and relaxing. She's a terrific instructor. Instructions are thorough and patient. If you're in your 70s and haven't worked out before this would be perfect for you. Those in your 80s and 90s should definitely try this, especially if you're not doing anything else.

Evidence based fitness for older adults
I am an RN with an interest and extra training in gerontology. I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the selection of exercises and focus of the workout, stretching and balance programs presented in this DVD. Jane Fonda's film and acting experience provides a friendly and inviting routine to follow along with. The evidence based focus of exercises provides a valuable benefit to all people, but especially older adults. It is easy to follow and thorough. The statistics she uses to drive home the importance of doing this exercise on a regular basis are accurate and should be heeded by us all!I would seriously like to thank Jane Fonda for putting together such a quality video that will make a positive impact in the lives of all seniors who decide to take advantage of it.As an RN with training in fall prevention and safety, I whole-heartedly recommend it!!!I am adding to this review something that you may find helpful to know. Unfortunately this DVD does NOT have chapter points at the start of each exercise. When you're just learning the routine, this is a real disadvantage. What I did was took pictures of the TV screen of each exercise and printed them out on paper in the order done in the work-out(~9 per page)and taped them on the wall under my TV. It's helping a lot because I can glance ahead and see what's next so I can quickly get ready for the next exercise. I would share the pictures here with my review if I could - just so it would be easy for you to do the same, but alas - not possible.I am bringing down my review from 5 to 4 stars because it would have been so easy for them to include chapter points. Why they didn't is beyond me, especially since it's aimed at older adults who may be a little slow to learn a new routine. I still think it's an excellent work-out and includes excellent information.
