A Riveting Historical Adventure for Young Readers!
I Survived the American Revolution, 1776 (I Survived #15) is a thrilling addition to the popular "I Survived" series by Lauren Tarshis. As an avid reader and history enthusiast, I couldn't resist delving into this captivating story set during one of the most significant periods in American history. From the moment I picked up this book, I was immediately transported back in time to the Revolutionary War era. Tarshis effortlessly weaves together a gripping tale of survival, bravery, and resilience, through the eyes of our young protagonist, Nate.In this fifteenth installment, Nate finds himself caught in the heart of the American Revolution. The author skillfully presents historical events, such as the Battle of Brooklyn and the crossing of the Delaware River, in an accessible manner for young readers. The attention to detail and accuracy in depicting historical events is commendable, making this book not only an exciting adventure but also an educational resource. One aspect that sets this book apart is the relatability of the characters. Nate's courage and determination, even in the face of danger, make him a protagonist that readers of all ages can root for. Additionally, the supporting characters, such as the brave soldiers and the enslaved individuals fighting for their freedom, add depth and emotional resonance to the story. The pacing of the narrative is perfect, with each chapter ending on a suspenseful note that left me eagerly turning the pages. Tarshis masterfully balances action-packed scenes with quieter moments of reflection, allowing readers to catch their breath and absorb the historical significance of the events taking place. As with the other books in the series, the language used is accessible and age-appropriate, making it suitable for middle-grade readers. The author successfully captures the essence of the time period without overwhelming young readers with complex vocabulary or historical jargon.I also appreciate the inclusion of an author's note at the end of the book, which provides additional historical context and encourages further exploration of the Revolutionary War era. This attention to detail adds an educational component to the reading experience, making it an excellent resource for both home and classroom settings.Overall, I Survived the American Revolution, 1776 is a captivating and educational read that will engage young readers and leave them with a deeper understanding of this crucial period in American history. Lauren Tarshis once again proves her ability to bring history to life through the eyes of relatable characters.

Fabulous for teacher and student to enjoy together
I read this with one of my middle school English students in Italy, who had read a similar book about the French Revolution and wanted more. The story is crafted superbly to teach history by bringing the reader back in time to live the historical moment in all 5 senses. Both a history lesson and and English lesson, with many rich vocabulary words and cultural tidbits. We'll be reading others in this series and the plus is that these books are also available through Amazon in Europe.
