Addressing a couple of the 1 star reviews:1: it does measure referenced from front or back of unit. The button to select is right on the front and clearly labeled.2: Units of Measure: Press and hold the UNIT button to switch between decimal meters, decimal inches, feet-inches-fraction (eg, 5’ 5-3/16”)I will update when I use it more

Don’t Purchase if You Want to Use The App!! Avoid!!
I have used laser levels before in the past and they’ve worked great. What sold me on this one was the app that its advertised as a tool to save measurements in a 2d drawing. That is a lie. First off… once you download the app which btw is red flag #2 when it looks like it’s an app to control your home smart devices (SmartHome). Red flag #1 was opening the box and fining everything out of package and the batteries included were already dead. After replacing batteries and loading the app… it gives you an option right off the bat to purchase a subscription so you can actually use the damn thing in their app. And not a one time purchase. A unheard of $6.99/week option or a yearly rate of $69.99!!! And get this… say you’re like “oh I just want to add my device. I’ll just X out of this and go back to the Home Screen and try to add it without a subscription. Nope! Hitting X takes you back to the Home Screen but guess what?! You can’t do a damn thing bc if you hit the other “add device” button, it takes you right back to that subscription screen as a reminder that you just purchased a piece of crap and that this company is a scam. Hopefully some of you read this and are saved from wasting your time and money.

Excellent Range
I am not using this to cut a board at exactly 92 1/6". I am using it in buildings to measure the ceiling height, length and width. I need to measure between columns, the square feet of a space, the distance between two walls. Some of the buildings I am in are 200+ feel long. This gives very accurate measurements within a 1/4" or better at 180'. Seems well built. Also works as a laser pointer. Buy it, you'll be glad you did.
