The right fasteners for a good MLV install (see details). Recommended
My previous sound abatement projects used special drywall, green glue, mineral wool, and various types of acoustic panels. MLV was a new material for me, which inevitably led to me finding out the correct fasteners to use with it - that's where the UberQuiet MLV Cap Nails (1-inch, 250 pcs) came in. While I must admit that $18 (with $2 off coupon, at the time of this review) felt pretty expensive for nails, it's not like MLV is a cheap material in the first place. Plus, in the universe of airtight j-boxes and MLV, these cap nails are likely to be the least expensive part of the puzzle. In use, the cap nails take care of the issues that I was worried about with MLV as a construction material. MLV is heavy, so I was concerned about distributing the forces at the fasteners, and not having sag impact the integrity of the material over time. These cap nails work great, but you will use a ton of them (about every 6-8", per joist). They weren't visible through 5/8" drywall. Recommended

Good quality…a bit pricy
These nails are good quality and are easy to drive in. The plastic cap is flexible and durable. The flexibility helps avoid breakage when driving these in. The nails ringed design helps the nails stay in place and will keep them from backing out. These are very similar to cap nails used for roofing paper but are leas pricy than these. One star deduction for price.Overall these are great quality.
