Ministry of Silly Walks Pocket Watch Desk/Wall Clock (Monty Python)

I like it but as others have indicated it smells of that typical tar like Chinese oil. As it is a gift I'm airing it out and checking its function. It is keeping time well during the last 6 days. The odor is gone after finally wiping the oil off. The metal stand is different than the one depicted. It has splayed front feet. When put on a shelf the clock base touches the shelf and leans back at about a 25 degree angle supported by a hook on the metal stand. I hung it by the upper wall hanging hole; my mistake. Apparently It is not supposed to be hung by the top ring either. It is supposed to be hung on the metal stand by the large round opening that allows access to the clock works. This works but in my case I had to bend the hinged back leg so it would not topple forward when the clock is mounted. It doesn't feel all that safe so I replaced it with a small wooden plate stand which gives it a more elegant English look (my initial plan upon reading other reviews). The clock is 6.5" in diameter by 1.75" deep if you are considering the more secure wall mount. It would work well in a small Michelle or bath as a wall hanger. The clock is powered by a inexpensive AA battery system found in many novelty clocks. It is quiet with a sweep no tick second hand. Is it over priced? Yes. But the comedy is priceless. Oh, Amazon contacted me and were concerned that I be totally happy with the purchase and offered to replace it with expedited shipping. I only have an excellent opinion of their customer support. I increased my rating from 4 stars to 5.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. He is a huge Monty Python fan. It is quiet and seems quality made. I wish it was a wall clock, I know he doesnt need more clutter on his desk. It is cute though.

This clock is great. It looks stylish, and well made. Best of all John Cleese's legs look ridiculous 24 hrs a day.

I understand that some others did not have this issue but I had to return mine. When it came, the toxic smell was so overwhelming that I could smell it through the box. I still opened it, but right after that, both my dog and toddler started sneezing and the whole room smelled like gas station. I put it in our garage to air it out, but it did not help. (t was a gift for my husband who also smelled it when he opened it so we decided to return it. I'm not sure if someone spilled something (gas or some chemicals) on it by accident or what happened but I cannot recomend this clock.

I concur with previous reviewers - there is a very strong toxic smell that permeates the box, as well as the clock. The smell does dissipate within about within 2 days. The clock is beautifully made, and good-looking. However, and most unfortunately, it doesn't keep time. At all. It loses time at an irregular rate, and I've tried multiple, fresh-from-the-pack batteries in it. It's great looking, but useless as a time piece. I'm very disappointed.

This is a really fun clock! Works great, isn't noisy, and is quite silly. The only negative is that it (or the packaging) smelled terrible (like glue or chemicals). We had to let it air out in the garage for a day to get rid of the smell.

Bought this as a gift for my husband for Christmas to put in his office at work and he loves it! Works great, looks really good. It's not huge- pay attention to the dimensions. It's just meant to be a small desk clock and for that it's perfect.

I'm a big Python fan, so this was hard to resist! It is an odd size, though. It's about the diameter of a coffee saucer, maybe a little more. So, it's a bit too small for the wall, and too large for even a March Hare style pocket watch. It comes with a desk stand, which isn't any use for me, but maybe the best way to use it. Note that the position of the feet makes it not all that easy to tell from any distance just what time it's pointing to. It's mostly a fun conversation piece.
