Weak and overpriced
OK. Well for starters this tea is as weak as a 2 day old kitten. If you're looking for a strong or even medium bodied tea to drink with milk and sugar in the British style, this isn't it. Not that you'd know from the seller's product description. It's a con really. £2.75 for 10 tea bags and the seller can't be bothered telling you the strength of the tea.On the box it says it is a bright medium bodied tea, 2 out of 5 in strength, brew for 3 to 4 minutes. Also "can be enjoyed throughout the day and makes a great light afternoon tea. To be taken with little or no milk. Add sugar or honey to taste". Yet on the product page the seller writes "Delicious when complemented with milk and sugar".As a parting shot don't be fooled into thinking this tea is produced by the East India Company. It's nothing at all to with the EIC, which has been defunct since 1874. The Indian entrepeneur owner was able to get permission from H.M. Government's Treasury, in 2010, to use the name on all his products. Why Sir Anthony Oliphant is associated with it is also a mystery. The string and tag tea bags themselves are individually sealed in airtight sachets. When the scahet is opened and the bag removed you can see a layer of fine tea dust in the sachet, which I wouldn't expect to see. The tea when brewed has a very delicate flavour with a slightly bitter aftertaste, although there is a clean finish with no astringency or dryness. It's nothing special though.I would say to prospective buyers to beware. This product is a clever marketing gimmick using an old respected traditional company name and high quality packaging, to seduce you into thinking that the outrageously high price for the tea bags means you are buying the best. You're not.
