Compact Powerhouse — Perfect for Campsite Cleanup & Trail Maintenance
I picked up the Dewalt 20V Max 8" Pruning Saw for my overlanding setup, and wow — this thing punches way above its size. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and cuts through limbs and small logs like butter. Whether I'm cleaning up a campsite or clearing a trail near my rig, it gets the job done fast without taking up much space in my gear bin. The brushless motor gives it serious runtime, especially paired with my other Dewalt 20V tools. If you camp, overland, or just want a reliable compact saw for around the property — this is it.

Weight, Build Quality
Thank You Dewalt for making this TOOL; it is a TOOL not a toy with the solid build quality of a real chainsaw. The weight and maneuverability make topping the branches of a fallen tree a pleasure where the fatigue factor is greatly reduced. The light weight frees you other hand for all kinds of necessary maneuvers - The 6.0 AH battery even makes the balance better, and you are still around 5 pounds. The safety button is not an issue for me, and I don't know why other reviews said it was awkward. Maybe they fixed it since those early reviews. My oil tank does not leak, and that was a complaint on other reviews. The additional chains are affordable and tightening the chain works like a traditional chainsaw. This is the perfect tool for formerly exhausting tasks with a heavy chainsaw. This is worth every penny for tasks that wear you out with a heavy and loud chainsaw that you have to constantly stop and restart on the tasks that are not big saw territory- I wish I had bought this sooner, and I could not be more pleased with the performance, price, and build quality- Now that I am in love with the perfect tool, I can quit searching for the perfect woman.

Bad Ass Saw!
This saw kicks butt. I’ve had the other $60 saws and the were ok. I was even looking at another that takes dewalt batteries when I came across this saw. 8inch bar with automatic oiler. Came with a 3AH battery that seems to last a long long time when using saw. It is larger than those others but is over twice the power and is built rugged. Easy to operate one handed. The only dislike I have is the safety button to engage the trigger is only on the left side. Right handers can use their thumb to engage the safety but left handers like me must use the other hand. This is not so good. The safety switch should be ambidextrous. My kit came with saw, the mentioned battery, bar cover w/wrench inside and charger but no case. Great little saw!

Saw works fine but charger died after less than 9 months ...
This is a good saw that is really useful when I don't want to get out my Stihl for a small job. My issue was with the charger that came with the saw. After less than 9 months, it quit working. I've reached out to Dewalt to see if it's covered under warranty. And in the meantime, I have a saw with a battery I can't charge unless I fork over more money for another charger that might not be any better than this one ...Update: I talked to Dewalt and they agreed to send me a new charger, which they did quickly. It arrived only a few days after I talked to them. So I'm a happy customer. I really do like the saw ... Upgraded this review to four stars.

Quality build, cuts and handles well.
Small but powerful. Once I got accustomed to using a chain saw with one hand, the DeWalt is very a effective tool capable of cutting larger branches than I originally anticipated. The battery seems small but I get well over 100 cuts on battery. I don't know how many cuts it will make on a fully charged battery because I've finished my work before it ran out of juice. The only niggle is the safety switch which I feel is too small creating bit of pain until a callous formed. The build quality is superb and it I feel it will will last a long time. DeWalt tools have never failed me. One little tip. Use Olive oil to lubricate the saw. I bought "organic" chain oil and when I smelled it, it was actually live oil. I've been using olive oil extensively on my 5 acre property and I works great and saves money.
