Q: 80pt is 28mm using online calculator...28mm is 1.1 inches so I am completely confused, can you help me out?

Confusingly, a "point" has more than one meaning. In typography a point is 1/72 of an inch, but in this context it means the same as a "mil" = 1/1000 of an inch. Hence 100 points = 1/10 of an inch, and 80 points is 0.08 inch, which is slightly less than 1/12 of an inch. In metric terms 80 points is 2 millimeters. (Here's the math: 1 inch is by definition exactly 25.4 millimeters and 0.08 x 25.4= 2.032 mm.)

Q: Can this be used with the Cricut maker?

According to the thickness of our cardboard, the size with 22PT can use the cutting machine. In general, thin cardboard can be cut with a cutting machine.

Q: Are these good t make journal cover and punch holes in for the spring?

They'll make a thick one-- they're nice and solid but you'll need a pretty hefty punch for it, so if your punch can't handle a good chunk of paper at a time maybe choose a lighter weight?
