Dead battery on arrival.
Wow, most devices have a plastic tab to protect the discharge of the battery, this did not. In the midst of my first covid case, I found all my thermometers had dead batteries, so I just ordered a new thermometer. This one came dead on arrival. So I ordered a bunch of batteries and have a thermometer for each room. This thermometer is awesome, soooooo fast!!!

Won't turn on
Like others have said. Upon removing from packaging, will not turn on. Tried pressing & holding button. Still nothing. No battery protective plastic tab to preserve charge until customer receives. Shouldn't have to buy & replace a battery. Also, makes me wonder if that would even solve the issue. I've used Vicks thermometers (different style) for years as a veterinary tech w/o issue.

BEWARE OF DEAD BATTERIES
I have always bought these at the store before but took a chance buying one offline. The battery is dead on arrival. I wasn't entirely sure if it was the battery or just an overall dude, but I happened to have another device that uses the CR2032 lithium battery and put one in that I confirmed was working and the thermometer works.I would recommend not buying if you need a working thermometer soon after arrival.

Dead battery, too long to get temp
The battery was dead on arrival, but it works well after we replaced it. I primarily wanted this for rectal temp and you have to press the on button then the "route" button three times with a pause between the before you get to the rectal option, which is definitely not convenient when you have a sick and squirmy baby you need an accurate temp on. The accuracy is also debatable, when I'm able to get baby to stay still, I take the temp 3 times, and often the second temp is a full degree less than the 1st and 3rd. I do appreciate the flexible tip though.

Picked up replacement batteries works great
It's a little confusing to chose the body part before taking the temperature. But once you do it absolutely is 2 seconds for an accurate temperature reading!

Lasted less than a year.
Surprisingly, the thermometer quit working in less than a year. Initially the manufacturer did not want to honor warranty (unauthorized seller) but I was persistent and it was replaced.
