When do you set height of handle? When standing beside or on the step?

The handle isn't strudy enough to support your weight, I use the handle to bring the half step cane up to the next step and use a railing or a sturdy regular cane in the other hand.

How tall/high is the step itself? It is a half-step, half of what dimension?

So, the step cane is 5.9 inches tall? My top pool step is 12 inches high. If it is nearly a half step to 12" this will work. Please advise.
