Most reliable stove
The MSR XGK will never ever let you down. I have used the stove in the most rough conditions, in the Andes and Alps up to 4500m and -20C for snow melting, in the South American and Asian tropical jungles to the deserts here in the Middle East and also Africa.Use white gas, bbq lighter fuel (my favourite fuell as it’s very safe and clean). Bring a maintenance kit, just in case. Simmering is possible with low Pump pressure. If you go for long extreme trips and you eg rely on snow melting for drinking water then bring a spare pump, just in case, although in 20 years I have never needed it.The current pump is very sturdy and reliable. The pump’s plastic design is brilliant, lightweight and robust busy. Keep it clean and lubricate it once in a while. You can keep the pump in the fuel bottle during your trip..A fantastic overall design!I have the XGK-EX since 2015 and the XGK II since 1999, these are the best liquid stoves I own.I bought this stove again for my son and his upcoming adventures.
