Megaware SkegPro 655 - Protects Against Damage from Ramp Dragging, Rocks, Debris and Submerged Objects - Stainless Steel Skeg Protector - Fits Mercruiser, Mercury, Suzuki, and Yamaha Motors

I wanted to protect the skeg of my Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen2 outdrive before I had to buy a product like this to cover up damage or missing pieces. I mostly operate in lakes and rarely in shallow areas but have had close calls and decided to spring for this product. I like the looks of this product over some of the other offerings. It installed easily and looks like it belongs on there. I didn't have any trouble with the mounting bolt that others mentioned. So far so good 👍

I bought this just as a precaution, came to the house quickly and was very easy to install. Had it on exactly a week and hit a rock on the Mississippi River, the skegard took a heavy hit and bent the crap out of it, but my skeg was perfectly intact. The Skegard was kinda flatten out. So i took it off and and hammered it back out and put it back on. I am Thankful it did its job. I did have to replace the bolt as it was bent.. But overall a great investment.

I am boating with my 2006 Stingray Bowrider 185LX on the Intracoastal Waterway in Central Florida. Due to the shallow waters the skeg of my Mercruiser 3.0 Alpha One outdrive was banged up with the paint off at the bottom and the aluminum having nicks. After I repainted the skeg with primer and engine paint I put on the Keelguard Skeg Guard. That was really easy using a rubber hammer to bang it into the proper position and a drill for the bolt/nut.After a day on the water my new aluminum propeller already shows signs of wear due to hitting the sand/floor at the bottom of the waterway but the skeg guard prevented any form of damage to the skeg.The product looks great and did an excellent job!

Easy to install haven’t used yet but looks like it will work nice .

After several years of sand, dirt, and dragging the skeg on the concrete five or 6 times, it really looked like crap and what sucked is my Optimax still looked new except for the ugly arse skeg. I ordered this thing and took maybe 20 min. to install and what a difference. It looks damn good especially with a stainless propeller. I wasn’t crazy about the one that covers the whole skeg, but this one looks killa !

I love the idea but only time will tell if it stands up to the Florida Gulf shallows at the sand-bars. I used the existing screw but filled the top and bottom edges with clear silicone to eliminate any vibration. So far, so good.
