Can the armrest be removed and is the leatherette expected to peel off in a couple of years in regular use?

I both this chair in April 2020. I was out of town for 4 months this year, so after a little over a year of usage, the fabric is peeling / cracking. I am disappointed about the quality of the fabric, as the chair was not cheap!

Would it compromise the integrity of the chair if you do not install the arms? I love the look, but dont want the arms

I absolutely love this chair. Don’t think it would compromise it as it’s pretty solid. But I think it came installed already if I remember correctly so you would need to remove them, not sure how hard that would be to remove.

What is the seat height range (in inches)? I sit at my kitchen counter now to work from home and need to make sure it is high enough.

18 - 21 inches. You would want the drafting height version to work comfortably at a counter height. This chair is meant for a standard 29 - 31 inch desk height.

I am concerned that the arm rests are not padded. I think I would be uncomfortable with my arms touching cold steel all day. Isn't this an issue?

I love this chair because of the ease of adjusting the chair to the workstation. I find that I use the armrests infrequently since I am now able to correctly setup my workstation. When you are seated at the correct height (elbows at desk height), you will find little need to use armrests, other than for a rest break or getting in and out of the chair. In either case, the metal is smooth and comfortable to the skin because the armrest quickly heats up to body temperature on contact.
