Where are no photos of the back portion... what is happening on the back area (is the material). Can you walk around the house in it?

Not made to be a robe. It is a blanket throw with sleeves. Use while reading or watching tv. If you pick up front you can walk a few feet but definitely not around the house. You would trip

Does this go over the head? Is there closure? Is it appropriate for a 92 yr old?

No it doesn't go over your head and doesn't have any closure in the back. The material is warm and soft. With the sleeves you can stay covered up -- a blanket slides down too much. This blanket has really long sleeves. I'm 5' 4" and the sleeves are too long for me but I roll them up. I would Recommend for anyone that sits for long periods of time.

Does the fabric shed?

We just received it and the white part sheds. Hoping it will stop after we wash it.

My mom is a petite 5'1". Will this wearable blanket be too bulky or cumbersome for her? Thank you.

She will be able to curl up and be well covered with this blanket. It's not something you wear. It's something you use while you sit on the couch. So the length shouldn't be a problem
