One other thing to check. This has a really odd power switch. it is down INSIDE the dial that you turn to change it from intake/outtake. So if you turn the dial, it HIDES the switch. Flip the switch on BEFORE you turn the dial, and then set it to take air in, or push air out. I had a REALLY hard time finding that switch, until I used the proper procedure, HAHAHA. Then of course, after inflated, (about 3 1/2 minutes the first time you blow it up, so that it has room inside of it to stretch, without being overinflated) make sure to turn the dial back to neutral, and turn the switch off. Inside the compartment where the cord is stored is another valve that can be used to pump up the air mattress with a manual pump or external battery powered pump. The issue is that this extra valve is right at the edge of the cord compartment and it may be difficult to get an external pump connected to this valve.

Once the mattress is full, the pump motor won't stop pumping, but it DOES NOT have the power to damage the mattress. You only need to shut the pump off when it is fully inflated or to your desired firmness.
