I used a tool like this back in the 80's when I first started to work on PCB's, now that my I have started to make PCB's again I have finally found this tool and at a great price.Works like a champ, I'm planning on buying another one

Great tool but there are a couple of things you should know.
This works very well to both trim and then bend over a component lead during assembly. With a little skill you can both get the desired lead length and angle to the board. We try to avoid smashing the lead flat against the PCB where it might be shorted should it breach the solder mask. One issue with this tool is that the nuts loosen. The adjustment nut between the handles slowly loosens and will eventually fall off. This requires Loctite or something to keep that from happening. Similarly there are 4 bolts holding the plastic housing together and those have loosened and fallen out. We keep having to tighten those and it is a pain. The tool cuts the lead and then a spring loaded pin snaps in to bend it over. That then resets for the next lead when you release pressure on the handles. After a while the tool appears to bind and not reset ready for the next lead. We found out that a very small amount of lubrication is needed on the spring mechanism. Basically just touch that black cylinder between the handles with a tiny amount of oil. This seems to eliminate the issue.I've bought a spare. We also beat one up and tossed it before we figured out how to lubricate it. All in all this is the only tool we've found that does the trick for us.

Damages traces on PCB. I wanted to like this, but constant jamming of the device along with shrapnel ejecting (cut leads) along with PCB trace damage = Incremental PITA assembly boards. Not worth the hassle.

A real time saver.
Took me a few tries to figure out how it actually works, but it does the job quite well. While the product is made of plastic for the most art, it seems quite rugged. Really does reduce assembly time.

After every day use as a electronic technician it failed after 10 days.
Leads bound up and parts fell out of it after 10 days.

bad idea
Have you ever heard of standards for PCB assembly? Try IPC. Bending leds so they cross traces is absolutely forbidden. Nice try, no cigar.
